About Me

If you would kindly like to purchase a copy of my second album, the much loved and lauded 'The Wintered Sea' for £5.00 (inc p&p) then click this button........................Thank you. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I'm a 29 year old songwriter who lives in Birmingham. I spent the nineties listening to as much american punk rock, indie and folk as possible. From classic underground bands such as Husker Du, The Replacements and Mudhoney to the more modern mainstream sounds of The Lemonheads, Sebadoh and Palace (Will Oldham). I spent a few years in an indie-rock band called The Starries who did a couple of tours with Idlewild and had a single release on Fierce Panda Records before splitting up in 2003. I have spent the subsequent years honing my craft and trying to write great, left-field acoustic songs which will appeal to alot of people whilst retaining some sembalance of originality. Having been good friends with Fyfe Dangerfield of Guillemots from many years ago, i had the opportunity to support his band a few times and to perform at his own solo appearances. Supporting the Guillemots at the Birmingham Acadamy in February 2007 resulted in all 50 copies of my cd selling out on the night.So far i have released two albums on local label Bearos: 'Roscrea' in 2005 and 'The Wintered Sea' in 2006, and i have recently completed work on my third, 'An Ocean Full of Broken Stars'. Drawing upon the melancholic sounds of Mark Kozelek and Jose Gonzalez, whilst retaining the melodic fluidity of Teenage Fanclub, it is evident after a few listens that patience and a newly found songwriting maturity has produced a fine album worthy of wider recognition.Whilst the world is far from short of male singer-songwriters at this point in time, i am at least attempting to fuse my love of uncompromising, underground punk rock/indie with a more melodic and lyrical loveliness in the vain hope of originality. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - I spent many years in a band called 'The Starries'. You can see our posthumous profile in my top 8. We split up in 2002. Indie rock has got a lot cooler since our demise and I believe there might be a connection.------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------ -------------------------------------------------"The autobiographical ’So quick’ is a sparsely sensitive folk hurter that barely clocks in at one minute in duration, despite its threadbare appeal there’s a warmth that radiates throughout this slender plucked acoustics as though June Panic had consorted to appear with the Red House Painters" - Losingtoday.Com-----------------------------------
