In the beginning, just like many other genres, electronic music found appreciation in a small audience composed only by music experimentalists and unknown artists. The first House or Techno djs were african americans and their first audience were their relatives and other djs listening to one another. This is exactly what was happening inside the “Music Institute†in Detroit.
A club becomes the only place where musical experimentation is possible live in the presence of a crowd. Only the first notorious releases pushed a bigger crowd to buy the music or go to the club. Day by day, House and Techno lovers grew in numbers thanks to a new way of partying called rave. Such parties are open to all social classes, all races, all sexual orientations and all ages. Without any discrimination, everyone can attend if she/he wants to party. House and Techno preach the pleasure by the dance and nothing else. Showing off, hitting on or soaking don’t have a place in party. This is why music and djs are so important. We come to have fun outside our daily environment. We come to get lost in music.
