About Me

Hey whats up? I'm Dustin, but most people call me D or Dust. I'm currently back in school after finding out that working in an office building isn't something I'm cut out for. Right now I'm majoring in Comparative Literature with a minor in Japanese. I love to hang out and watch movies, have a few beers with some friends, maybe play some Halo or rock someone's ass at Guitar Hero. One of my favorite things to do is to go out for sushi or shabu shabu; if you can't tell I'm a big fan of Eastern Asian culture ;) I used to sing for a progressive/metal band called My Dying Thoughts as well as played bass for my best friend's band Mortal Pain. I still sing and write when I can, but I'm not currently tied to anything. I'm what I'd call a multi-faceted person, and I pride myself on being open-minded and always willing to try new things.Music is one of my biggest passions besides writing; generally I don't go more than a few minutes every day without listening to something. My taste varies on my mood or even the weather, but I love metal, trance, hardcore, punk, folk, underground hip hop, classical and occasionally I'll fancy a band that might coin that terrifying term we all know as "pop." If it sounds good to me, I'll listen.I'm an introvert, a thinker, a jokester, and a shoulder for those who need it.

My Interests

Hanging with the friends, movies, concerts, goin out for sushi and beer, shabu shabu, surfing, singing, writing, learning about other cultures and languages.

I'd like to meet:

Friends, fellow musicians or movie buffs. Anyone really, just send me a message before you add me or else I'll probably deny it ;)

Music:

It would take all day to list everything, but mainly I listen to: hardcore, metal, punk, rock, folk, 80's-90's rap, underground hip hop, reggae, trance, and techno. I appreciate music in all it's forms, and respect people who do not limit themselves to a scene or a genre.

Movies:

Ju-On (The Curse), Seven Samurai, Hidden Fortress, Fight Club, Zoolander, Re-Animator, Wedding Crashers, Dodgeball, Escape from New York, Halloween, 40 Year Old Virgin, Dead Alive, Black Mask, Hero, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, House on Haunted Hill (old), Napoleon Dynamite, Shaun of the Dead, Super Troopers, Half Baked, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Pulp Fiction ..

Television:

Bleach, Gantz, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Simpsons, Lost, The Office, Entourage, Family Guy, South Park, Curb Your Enthusiasm...don't get to watch much tv, so I usually watch the DVD sets when I have time ;)

Books:

Any Stephen King, Paradise Lost, Dune, any Anne Rice, Fight Club, American Psycho, and any Orson Scott Card

Heroes:

My family and friends.

State of the union?

We're living in a country who is so blatantly terrified of anything that it questions its own people...its sickening. Teachers are no longer allowed to hug their students. Passengers are unable to car...

Sad on V-Day?

Fear not! D is here with your proverbial nugget of wisdom. I used to find myself getting a little sad if I had to spend a Valentine's Day alone, but lately that is no longer the case. The first step i...

Silly people, criminal governments...and sushi!!

Its funny how easily some people can move on from things. I've noticed people who seem to whine and cry and complain the most have the easiest time getting over someone and jumping to the next best th...

New leaf?

I've learned (and come to terms with) the fact that I can be a very dependent person. I won't put all my eggs in one basket anymore though, and from now on the only 100% sure thing in my life is mysel...
