About Me

SSO Press (pronounced "so") is a non-profit publishing company which operates out of Olympia, Wa. We publish book-like things that sometimes fit the description of chapbooks and zines; we also publish comics, broadsides, put out cd's, throw events, and generally have a good time. We´re on something like a hiatus right now, so don´t expect much from us (responding to e-mails in a timely manner, accepting submissions, announcing when somebody releases something with us, etc.).
Just out! Grand, a compilation zine of people writing about their grandparents.
The new issue of Ilse Content (Vol. 5) by Ms Alexis Wolf is out and is marvelous. You can find this at Powell´s Books and through Sweet Candy Distributing.
Also on the shelves is Take a Seat in My Satin: Selected Poems, the long-awaited first chapbook by the always creative Brian Price Ferguson. For this premier outing, he decides to resurrect the ghost of ee cummings and introduce him to the sensory overload of the modern age.
Cut From The Body, a short collection of poems by Gaia has been out for some months and can be found at Orca Books in Olympia, Wa.
And let us not forget the compilation cd we like to call Sticks + Stones, a fine collection of musicians making glorious sounds involving electronics. It has a beautiful blockprint cover art by Onyx Dixon, tambien. The amazing DJ Fuckumup keeps Anthem Records in Portland stocked and any record store in Olympia should have copies.
In months to come, expect covertly released books from Monty Cantsin, Ariel Birks, Cole Cunningham, and other fine folks keeping the SSO name alive.
Some of our books can be found in places such as Orca Books, Last Word Books and probably other random places in Seattle, Portland, and the bay area. For more on our paper empire, check out www.ssopress.com , a sorely behind the times source that does its job despite the forward motion of the world around it.
We love when people write letters: SSO Press PO Box 2645 Olympia, Wa. 98507.
