Lives or Levels creates a transcendent blend of forward thinking music that explores a vast palette of emotion and ideas. We have gained an immediately loyal following by creating music that contrasts with the local scene. With a full-length album of material under our belts and a follow-up nearly complete, we are ready to reach a wider audience through aggressive touring and promotion.
Lives or Levels is a five-piece band that has been playing together for five years and writing original music for two years. We separated paths for a brief time when all of us tried college (one of us made it out with a degree!). Our love of music quickly led to our being jaded by the standard post high school path of life. After reuniting and having a couple of jam/idea sessions, we decided to work together to pursue a more gratifying path through music. Realizing the difficulty of this task, we agreed to put our normal career aspirations to the side so we were able to concentrate on the band.
The resulting music is a culmination of five different attitudes and backgrounds. We rarely agree on what to listen to, which results in a truly uncompromising and meticulously criticized creative output.
Our most recent success was winning a six month long competition through www.jerseyshows.com Lives or Levels placed first out of 200 bands throughout the state through monthly live competitions. This competition has helped us get press in publications such as The Aquarian, The Bergen Record and The Twin Boro News.
We began our studio experience with the recording of our first demo so do i during the winter of 2004 that quickly sold out. We have recently finished recording a full length CD after spending 6 months in the studio and independently distributing the CD at our shows. We are aggressively pursuing more shows as well as the next level of success . . . signing with a reputable record label.
