That money talks, I'll not deny.......... I heard it once...... It said goodbye!

About Me

This is a video I took in the Coliseum:
If you want to add me my last name is Romanino. I just set this feature because of all the damn SPAM on here. I grew up in Patterson, NY. I am Italian (Roman) and Irish (Celt) and there you have a screen name. I always do what I say I am going to do, but on my own time scale, nobody else's. I am extremely patient and seem to have a knack for knowing the truth, even when left unsaid. Honesty, to me, is paramount. Loyalty is a very close second. I appreciate the things I have but will never stop living for more, whether this be in my relationships or career. When something goes wrong.. I won't run, I face it and solve it. Hopefully these basic beliefs will never lead me astray. I wrote an epic screenplay based on a true story from history. Also, a proposal for a history related television show and was contacted by a network. Still working on it. Writing and acting in a short I am producing with some friends in the business. I have no delusions about the business of acting and screenwriting, I know the risks, but I believe in what I have to offer and I know in my heart that I would regret, later in life, not having given it a go. That is the latest. Will update soon. NOLI HOC PRAETERIREI found the following scene to be hilarious because it touches on a couple of things; first, actors who think they can do anything, i.e. write... the state of delusion out there. Also, how disappointed you very well may be if you go to a grizzled old veteran actor for advice or help. The actual writer of Extras did a great job here and Patrick Stewart must have gotten a laugh out of it himself. It started out explaining the reasoning behind my own writings, then went horribly ary! :)

My Interests

Writing and acting, learning everything I can on ancient history, reading, languages, meeting new people.Summer '05 I went to Rome alone. I cannot explain the feeling I got there, it energized me for the rest of the summer. Working hard. If I don't understand something, I study it until I do. I am interested in people.

I'd like to meet:

I just like nice people, REAL people. Those with a heart who go out of their way, from time to time, to put nice things out there. Along with those new and old friends, I would love to network on this site. I may in the future need to work with other people, in different areas of the business, on some of the projects I've written and plan on producing. I'd like to meet Stephen Hawking actually. I've no mind for Physics, Mathematics, or Quantum Theory but he is a genius visionary that comes along very rarely and this is what is worth knowing to me. As far as from the past, the grandparents I never knew. The 2 huge JCs from history: Julius Caesar (because he must have been one of the most charismatic people who ever lived) Jesus Christ (this has nothing to do with being religious, I'm not, it is entirely the curiosity of someone who loves to learn and the fact that he must have been one of the most original thinkers to have lived) Martin Luther King Jr. (Everything I have ever read, that he said, moved me. The power to do that is something to cherish in itself) John Ritter (because he made me laugh a million times and continues to every time I see him on Three's Company. Making someone laugh is a gift) Audrey Hepburn (the epitomy of a beautiful person and a perfect movie star, if you had to make one up) There are just too many to list but here are more: Socrates, Alexander, Hannibal Barca, Scipio Africanus, Cleopatra, Livia, Augustus, Boudicca, Atoninus Pius, Marcus Aurelius, Leonardo da Vinci, Ben Franklin, Abe Lincoln, Babe Ruth, Ghandi, Princess Diana, Mother Teresa. Many more. I am not struck by great stars, but by great achievement.

Music:

Nirvana, Incubus, Linkin Park, Beck, Beatles, STP, Beethoven, Chopin or whatever moves me at any given time.

Movies:

Recently, Finding Neverland, Sin City, and Crash were great. Some cool foreign flicks. Braveheart, other epics and future epics.... ZAMA, Good Fellas, Godfather, True Romance, Hero, Glory, Star Wars (all), Rocky, Twilight Samurai, The Emperor and The Assassin, Lord of the Rings Series, Ben Hur, Spartacus, Amistad, Saving Private Ryan, The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile, Life is Beautiful, American Beauty, The Fall of the Roman Empire (or shall I say the original script for Gladiator)--- I also like good comedies, like Old School, Austin Powers, Coming to America, Dumb and Dumber, Napoleon Dynamite, and Amelie was very cool. There are just too many to list.

Television:

The Yankees of course! I watch more movies than TV. If TV, it is History Channel or something in front of me while I am on the treadmill at the gym. I have seen all episodes of ROME, Prison Break, Sopranos, and Entourage this season, they are the only ones worth not missing to me.Three's Company is my favorite sitcom of all time. This is a scene from Rome, not coming back till 2007, about 2050 years after this scene takes place! :)~

Books:

Narcissus and Goldmund by Hermann Hesse is my favorite book. This book describes life's experiences better than any other I have read to date. There is a sample from this great work in my Blog. Meditations by Marcus Aurelius. It amazes me that the most powerful leader of his time, Marcus, 161-180 C.E. was able to adhere to such a peaceful and logical way of the world of man and nature. That is why his short Meditations have passed down to us as a timeless code to live by. I love it and know I would have actually liked the man personally. The Masters of Rome series by Colleen McCullough "The First Man in Rome" "The Grass Crown" "Fortune's Favorite" and "Caesar's Women" and the last 2 which are next on my list (These books are not for the faint of heart, for many reasons, but they are the undisputed top of the line in the genre of Historical Fiction).

Heroes:

My mother is my hero. She lived with dignity and grace, with a smile on her face, while she knew she was dying from breast cancer. Her example is one I will never forget. I miss her a lot!

Love manifests itself in print, if , by chance, you can write.

As I have said under my favorite books, it is Narcissus and Goldmund by Hermann Hesse.  One of my favorite passages from that book is said by Goldmund as he tries to describe, to Narcissus, ...
