About Me

Indigenous American (Lumbee from RobCo.) living and working in the Nation's Capitol. You can catch me at 13th street or in Mount Pleasant with my crew. Currently reading Flight, listening to Handsome Boy, Langehorne Slim and The CakeSale. Spring is settled in and Summer is quickly approaching. Thank God I have plans for every weekend between now and July 4th. I'm gonna paint the East Coast red between Memorial Day and Labor Day.I spent the weekend at the Bay- no not the SF area Bay. The east coast bay- the Chesepeake. And it was gorgeous. The water was spectacular and life on Shore Drive was so more than I could have hoped for but more imporantly, more like home than I ever dreamt. It felt good to be alive. And we drank Ruination and ate Po'boys and biked around the state park. And we danced and laughed and shared. My BFAMs (brothers from another mother)went to the Va. Beach Beerfestival where we drank pitchers of the Lagunitas Pale Ale, more Stone Ruination, and a host of half-ass brewed wanna be beers- seriously. I mean its a beer festival and people were walking around with bottles of Michelob Light. It was my first time leaving a beer festival in order to drink somewhere else. But we made the best of it and ended up having an amazing night at the local bar. So what's next for the Litte NDN that would? Round 2 of the East Coast Bay for Memorial Day. Kings of Leon Concert (with Gman if he can get out of work), The National show at 9:30 as well as the best two weekends of summer- "Rock the Bells" in NYC and Virgin Mobile Festival in Bmore.Oh and the Pumpkins are in residence the last week of June and the first week of July near where my parents "summer" (LOL) and Gump and I are gonna try to see at least three of the nine shows. ___________________________________________________________ The Bodies exhibit debuted this past week- you know the one where the plastify cadavers and corpses. shit is wicked intense, but also really icy. its makes you super aware and puts a new spin on "your body's a temple". the exhibit definitely is something to check out if your in the area. Also, i highly recommend the Wonderland Ballroom. sickest bestest time i've ever had in dc. met the bartenders, the owner, Matt (born in ole Carolina) and had much Jameson and Stone IPAs. and the food isn't horrible, which says a lot in DC._________________________________________________________ _____ Personally, I'm at a really good place right now. I still have some demons to exercise, but its all part of the process. I'm trying to live my most authentic life, participating in friendships and relationships that are supportive, nurturing, and operate without fear. I'm also reading some Debbie Ford: "The Shadow Process". I really think she's on to something. She talks about how we must learn to love "all parts" of ourselves; that we're ok when we're self-defeating or self-involved; that by not supporting a world of dichomotimies (strong or weak/happy or sad/shame or pride), we save ourselves the trouble of being compulsively driven to becoming the opposite of thing we're most afraid of. ALL PARTS. we must learn to love all parts of ourselves; only then will we be able to control the havoc or fallout of our insecurities. we're all a little damaged, and the best thing we can do it stay out of the darkness- its called the shadow process, and it rocks.i'm also a huge fan or Viktor Frankl's Logotherapy, which has three basic premises: (1) Life has meaning under all circumstances -- even the most miserable ones. (2) Our main motivation for living is our will to find meaning in life. (3) We have freedom to find meaning in what we do, and what we experience, or at least in the stand we take when faced with a situation of unchangeable suffering. So if your into self-examination or self-discovery, holla at me. I'm always interested in people who are willing or ready to operate at a higher level of consciousness.
