Kataplexy Started in 2006 with Joel Sandoval-Bass, Eric Escorcia-Guitar, Pat Rybovic-Guitar, AJ Thomas-Drums, and Jason Herrera-Vocals. We started to focus on writing original music and once we got a solid set list mixed with some covers, we started to play some shows. Once we established a good number of originals we entered the studio to record a 2-song demo, but a week before recording, Eric Escorcia, decided to leave the band due to losing interest in playing Death metal and also he just hated us especially Joel Sandoval. So we decided to still enter the studio and record our first demo which really never saw the light of day, but was a good experience nonetheless. That year we played a good amount of shows, which went great for us and gave us really good exposure in the Chicago metal scene. But there was one problem during all these shows: we still needed a guitar player. So we sent out some wanted adds and we finally got a reply from the one and only Mike Mayborne. So we jammed a bit and brought him into the band. We played about two shows with Mike and then once again another line-up change happen, we got rid of our Drummer AJ Thomas. So once again we were looking for someone to join our band and then out of nowhere Matt Getto (ex-Flesh Canvas) came into the fold to join the band. So now with Mike Mayborne and Matt Getto in the band we started to notice a different sound in Kataplexy and for the better. So now Kataplexy is Joel Sandoval-Bass, Pat Rybovic-Guitar, Mike Mayborne-Guitar, Matt Getto-Drums, and Jason Herrera-Vocals. So until our Hockey careers start to happen we're just going to be playing some, well, hopefully good old Kataplexy style Death Metal.
