About Me

The band Cosio was born in a one bedroom house with a basin of hot water as the only comfort this world provided after leaving the womb. We were raised in a windy valley that occasionally caught fire all around the hills tops. The music we have created is inspired by the lives we have lived, some would consider small lives speaking of small towns. We write about our grandmothers and grandfathers. The lineages of their stories come forth in our young voices, mixed with the shaky sound of our own experiences. Sacrilegious cynics, Bible tales, adventure diaries and unrequited love have inspired our music. We put our own mark on to the sound that travelers and minstrels have been making for centuries, with traces of old country, folk, and blues. The name Cosio refers to the mess of children that my parents raised, blood related or not, to the half-way house we grew up in; to the run-aways that became family members in a house filled with noise and music. We play the sounds that came out of this upbringing. Everyone is family when the front door is always open. Each of the five members of Cosio grew up in the small town of Simi Valley. The winding hill that slopes down into town can be a bit of a time warp, from the traffic jams of the 405 to the open view of the sun setting behind the surrounding hills. It was a small town that has since begun to grow up.&nbsp PRESS &nbsp ............................................................ ................................................&nbspMel odies you feel at your core, a deep and soulful vocal delivery, wailing harmonica, percussion that moves, tasty lead guitar textures, and a rock solid rhythm section abound in this stellar mixture of Folk, Indie, acoustic, and Blues Rock. If you truly love music with a soul, you will definitely want to check out this wonderfully refreshing and innovative addition to the immerging grass roots music scene. Cosio is a must see! &nbsp -The Verity Room&nbsp&nbsp Cosio is one of those rare bands who enjoys performing so much they seem blissfully unaware that they're doing something magnificent. Philosophical but not preachy, indie but not sloppy, this is a smart and solid act.&nbsp -Jon Hershfield isgoodmusic.com &nbsp ............................................................ ................................................&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Buy the "Walk Through Blood, Sleep in Bones" EP through itunes.
