Hey.... I'm Curtis. I am the owner/artist of ADDICTIVE INK located in Rapid City, SD.
I love working as a tattoo artist and I strive to do my best! I opened Addictive Ink the summer of 2007 and already I have made some awesome new friends in the area!! (Check out my 'friends' album in my 'pics' section.)

Corey Hall is also an artist at ADDICTIVE INK. He grew up here and attended school in the Black Hills area. He's been tattooing for 5 years and does some fantastic work. We're proud to have him in our shop!

*CARING FOR YOUR NEW TATTOO:*

1. ALWAYS WASH YOUR HANDS BEFORE & AFTER TOUCHING YOUR NEW TATTOO!!
(I cannot stress this enough!)

2. Leave your bandage in place a minimum of 2 hours. Open flesh is a breeding ground for bacteria and infection … although your friends may be excited to see your new tattoo, it's important to wait! Also it's a good idea to have clean linens on your bedding and do NOT use bar soap on your new tattoo! Sleeping on dirty sheets and blankets, cleaning the tattoo with a used towel, even using a bar of soap on it, can all transfer bacteria to the open surface.

3. After you remove the bandage, you will want to wash your tattoo. Use warm water and mild, liquid antibacterial or antimicrobial liquid soap to gently wash away any ointment and to completely clean the area. Do not use a washcloth or anything abrasive. Your hand is your best tool in this case. Then pat (do not rub) the area firmly with a CLEAN towel or paper towel to get it completely dry. Air-drying is definitly the BEST and most sterile method! Follow with a very light application of ointment. A&D vitamin enriched ointment or a similar ointment is acceptable.(NOTHING THAT SAYS 'CREAM' & I do NOT recommend anything with antibiotic in it! I have seen too many allergic reactions to those 'antibiotic creams' including Bacitracin.) I have an all natural healing ointment (DERMA HEAL) that I highly recommend available in the shop. You should apply a light coat of ointment several times a day for 3 days, not allowing your new tattoo to feel dry or scaly. Wash your new tattoo using this same method 4-6 times a day the first 3 days. After 3 days you can use lotion (free of perfumes & dyes) instead of any ointment. (Gold Bond lotion comes highly recommended from several of my own customers!)

4. Wear loose comfortable clothing for the first 2 weeks, nothing should be rubbing against or irritating the area where your new tattoo is.

5. It's very important NOT to go swimming or submerge your new tattoo in a body of water for at least 2 weeks.

6. After a few days, you will notice some peeling and possibly a little scabbing. Excessive scabbing indicates a poorly-done tattoo, but a little is normal and there is no need to panic. You will also start to itch, just like a sunburn when it begins to heal. Don't pick and don't scratch! If the skin itches, put lotion on it. (Again....Gold Bond lotion comes highly recommended from several of my own customers!)

7. If you have any questions about the care of your new tattoo do not hesitate to call your artist! My cell phone # is 391-2114!

8. After your tattoo is healed, from now on, you will always want to protect it from the sun's ultraviolet rays. These can fade and damage a brilliant tattoo very fast. Before spending a lot of time in the sun, protect your tattoo with a minimum 30 SPF sunblock.

Music:

FADING FAITH, Metallica, KORN, Disturbed (& don't mess around.....play it LOUD!!)I like all kinds of music really. Anything from some classical to rock to pop to country (I'm a bit selective about the country stuff tho....I don't really care for the 'tear in my beer she took my truck & my dog' shit)
