HOW TO SUBMIT WORK TO US
WE PREFER UN-RETOUCHED IMAGES whether you are submitting photographs or digital
images. Please do not sweeten, crop or otherwise manipulate them.
DIGITAL IMAGES: Interior images should be 300 dpi, at least 1 MB and sized at
approximately 2300 x 2700 pixels. Cover images should be approximately 3000 x
3600 pixels. Each image must have your name (i.e., JaneDoe1.tiff,
JaneDoe2.tiff, etc.). Ideally, images should either preview as thumbnails on
the disk or you should include a print out of thumbnails of all images.
WE DO
NOT ACCEPT SUBMISSIONS VIA EMAIL UNLESS WE REQUEST THEM FROM YOU. Please
include full contact info on the disk (see below).
HARD COPIES: All photos need to have your name, shop name, and full address and email address on
the back. We suggest you write this information on a label and then apply the
label to the back of the photo; often when you write directly onto the back of
the photo with ink pen (or an ink stamp), the ink smears or bleeds, making the
photo unusable. Please send duplicates, not your only copies. Also, please send
prints on photographic paper. We cannot use laser printouts.
FLASH, ILLUSTRATIONS & CARTOONS: Do not send us your originals. Send high
quality laser prints or images on disk (see above).
WRITER'S GUIDELINES: Manuscripts can be virtually any size, although we
recommend between 500 and 1000 words. Manuscripts with accompanying graphics
and/ or photographs are given higher priority since ours are visually-oriented
publications. We are not interested in “beginner’s†articles ("My First
Tattoo," etc.) unless they have unique or unusual value. We are interested in
articles that have a fresh slant on tattooing and body art such as
traditions from other countries, new techniques and trends, religious and
ritual practices, unusual tattooed people, or historical figures, places and
events.
All submissions will are treated as unconditionally assigned for publication
with all clearances and releases secured by the submitter and implicit in the
submission. No holding fees are paid.
