At the end of the Williamite War in 1691, Ireland was run by British Crown. They droped down in Ireland and slaughtered innocent cilvilians. Those who rose against the British were killed or put in prison. A small group known as the Society of United Irishmen was formed in 1791. This is a resistance group against the Britsh rule. Because of this uprising, the British used horrific tatics to quiet the resistance. Such as burning down houses,torture,and murder. All for them standing up for what they believed in. . . they're FREEDOM! They under estimate the Irish,they will NEVER give up. This goes back and forth for years between British rule and the Irish Resistance. Almost every rebel caught by the Brits was massacred. In 1798 the French helped in the rebellion to help push back the British. The failure of the 1803 rebellion was the end of the United Irishmen. What rebels were left were forced to negotiate surrender. Small rebel resistance groups remained till 1804 under James Corocorane. But the 1798 Rebellion will always be know as the most concentrated outbreak. It was estimated at 15,000-30,000 deaths over a 3 month period. Also there was the Eastern Uprising. Also known as "Bloody Sunday". British troops attacked innocent civilians in Derry on January 30,1972. 13 PEACEFUL PROTESTERS DIED BECAUSE THE FUCKING BRITS DIDN'T AGREE WITH WHAT THEY SAID. Just like them to use threats to try and silence us. NOT GONNA HAPPEN! And in 1981,another irish brother died for his beliefs. Bobby Sands. Robert Gerard Sands was born 9 March 1954. He was a volunteer of the Irish Republican Army and member of the United Kingdom Parliament. He also led the 1981 Hunger Strike in HM Prison Maze. He was arrested for possession of firearms. He had to protect his people. For prisoners wanting to gain political status,he led the huger strike. The strike started 1 March of 1981,he died 5 May 1981. The strike lasted 66 days. He sparked that fire that had dwendled over time,now there's hope again. Over 100,000 people attened his funeral. The people just have to believe,but nothing can happin if you do nothing.
