About Me

layout by
static layouts.About me eh? For one, I never check myspace more than once a month... I'm just that lazy. I'm a fourth year history major at the University of Cincinnati, where I study Eastern Europe, and fall in love daily with the Habsburgs and- weirdly- the Protestant Reformation. I spend most of my time with my physicist boyfriend- adding to my dislike of complex math- or my best friend, loafing, or playing with our dogs- who I dote upon grossly. I work in the gift shops of the Cincinnati Zoo, where I chase small children around and clean up after their field trips, or on better days- I host birthday parties for the kids. Which is amazingly fun. I'm painfully shy until you get me talking, and then I'm afraid I'll talk your ear off, or break into random song and dance, once I'm comfortable enough with you. Feel free to message me, just don't get offended if it takes me a while to get back to you! Should you feel the need to, feel free to visit my facebook (which I check often), or my blog ( violatedbyinsight.com) which is horribly dull- but a good way to get in touch with me!

My Interests

I love to read and I write off and on, though lack the motivation to ever finish anything really interesting. Geology used to be a passion of mine, and I'm still fascinated by rock formations and plate techtonics. I love animals, though I'm a notorious fish killer- unintentionally. I like watching movies and television, going on long winded rants about somewhat significant historical figures, and just loafing around with my boyfriend and our dogs. I adore playing Kingdom Hearts and Zelda, and I love to cook.

I'd like to meet:

Fred the Great (Prussian King). Vlad Dracula. Anne of Cleves. Anne Boleyn. Anne Rice. J.R.R Tolkien. Adolf Hitler. Bill Maher. Alton Brown. Stalin. Bulgakov. Bram Stoker. Queen Elizabeth I... In general I like meeting people who I can be silly with, but who can also hold a serious conversation from time to time.

Music:

Kevin Devine, Modest Mouse, Straylight Run, Coldplay, Brand New, Classical music, some country, Bright Eyes, Coheed and Cambria on occasion, Pablo,Eisley, Green Day, Iron and Wine, Postal Service, Savage Garden,Say Anything, Bayside, Dashboard Confessional, Death Cab For Cutie, Enya, The Used, Randy Travis, Grace Read, I like a lot of music, I'm fairly versatile-I'm on a Shins kick at the moment- I suggest Wincing the Night Away.

Movies:

Life is Beautiful, Dan in Real Life, When Harry Met Sally, Interview with the Vampire, Lord of the Rings, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Shop on Main Street, Phantom of the Opera, Little Miss Sunshine, there are so many movies- I like movies that leave something with me, whether it's the cheesy Romantic comedy that makes me smile, the horrifyingly depressing movie that makes me think, or the vampire and adventure movies that leave me wishing for a more interesting world. I'm not hard to please when it comes to movies.

Television:

Law and Order SVU, Almost anything on Food Network or the History Channel. I love the Blue Planet and The Universe series. I often watch the Fairly Odd Parents, Gilmore Girls, and of course Reba. Lately, I've been watching a whole lot of CNN.

Books:

The Vampire Chronicles, Dracula, Harry Potter, Lord Of the Rings, the Color of Water, Angela's Ashes, Food for the Dead,Too Loud A Solitude, Jane Green books, Down and Out In London and Paris, The Master and Margarita, Life, Tess of the D'Ubervilles, Magic Lantern, I love books like I love movies- all genres, all motifs, something that really catches my attention and keeps it.

Heroes:

I don't know that I have any heros. People who can be called heros are few and far between.

My Blog

The Frog and the Daffodil

This is one that I don't think anyone will understand, it doesn't really make sense to anyone but me. I enjoy it though, it's probably my favorite piece of writing ( of my own that is). It still needs...
