saxophonist and composer Sungjae Son was born and raised in Seoul, Korea. He majored in classical music composition at Yonsei University, and studied jazz saxophone at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.After graduating from Berklee, he moved to New York to earn a masters degree from Queens College. He studied under Bill Pierce, George Garzone, Antonio Hart and Sir Roland Hana.Since his return to Korea, he released a project album "Nouveau Son" (2003) and solo albums "Repertoire & Memoir" (2006) and "I'll Be Seeing You" (2007). He also played with soul-funk band "Funcafric Booster" and won the Korean music award for the "Best Soul and R&B Record of the Year" (2006). In 2007, he was chosen as the "Best Saxophone Player of the Year" by Jazz People Magazine.
