Iyano Iyanti
“A family with music as the family tradition†is the kind that this aspiring artiste, with a taste of destiny at his fingertips has and Iyano Iyanti is just blessed with this kind resourceful talent.
Born Deano Ira Hall at the Victoria Jubilee Children’s Hospital on the 8th of February 1983. This, within a time when the political climate of the eighties was the worst the country had seen, Deano and his family literally ran “leave the house from Cockburn Pen.†Thus, he and his family ended up at first, on the cool hills of Gravel Hill, Claremont, St. Ann. From there, he lived several places in St. Catherine and now rests in Ewarton. Women has always been a strong part of his life, from grandmother to mother to aunties, Iyano has been blessed. At about fourteen years old, his mother, the only parent he had a relationship with, migrated and by virtue of this his aunties all helped to guide him into the person he is today, a positive young youth. He is the only child for his mother but one of three children that his father has. He went to the Bybrook Basic School then to Linstead All Age, where he took the Grade Nine-Achievement Exam and received entrance into McGrath High in Linstead. There he did his CXCs after which he got certified for courses in Bartending and Catering and even did seven months in Early Childhood education and also getting to teach at the basic school level. Though he is a working bartender, he is also able to balance some farming, “faming is a must…I have I Vineyard,†with all this, he is a warrior in the army of Jah Rastafari and meditates quite often in the hills (where his farm is). All this is what Iyano Iyanti possesses but what this young artiste aspires is to bring his positive air to the music industry.
Iyano Iyanti is a name he created for himself, meaning “the representation of the star force within,†truly deep words uttering from this 21st century young Rastafarian youth within a world gone crazy. But music is all he knows, with his grandfather who plays the drums and attended the Alpha school for Boys; aunties very vocal and having a veteran musician/producer-Dia- in the family, music then would seem inevitable. It was not until leaving high school that he began to make serious steps towards making his own music by writing his own songs (2003). “Whenever I come to town, I always try fi link Dia and work wid him†and that he has done. So far he recorded four powerful songs; and musical Guru Jah D did Iyano’s first recording called “Oh Gosh, Oh Gosh†and has even done recordings for Tallers in Ocho Rios.
To date he has written several songs, songs like: Consumed with the Fire; Oh Gosh, Oh Gosh; Badness nuh Pay; We can make it Better; No Hiding Place; Ghetto Revolution; Help Me oh Jah; Paradise Woman; Pretty Little Darling; Far from Trouble; What is Happening (for the poor); Tell me what’s the Price; just to name a few and more is yet to come. With his music, he hopes to create a whirlwind of positive vibration within the music industry; simply because, he thinks, “positivity is placed on a shelf while negativity is being rampantly promoted. So I am just here to bring a balance within the music.†And being influenced by some of the greatest our time and theirs is one of the best thing you can do for yourself as an aspirer. He has aligned his persona along side Bob Marley, Miguel Collins aka Sizzla Kolunji, Peter Tosh, Tarrus Riley, Lutan Fyah, Natural Blacks, Jacob “Killer†Miller, Warrior King, Jr. Kelly, Buju Banton, Daddy U-Roy, Capleton, Anthony B and Garnett Silk. Then the results will be a special blend of 21st century Rastafarian musician at work, reaching beyond himself and get so high on music, as the sky is the limit and is guided by his philosophy that “what is due unto Iyano is his†and he says he studies self-defense because he will need to defend ‘his’.
Taking up the precepts of His Imperial Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie the First and Empress Menen, he is a young upcoming Rastafarian. He being honest to himself and humble has also displayed a down to earth, grass root nature, and having a great joy, love and admiration for people has made it clear that he is “mad up inna righteousness.†He sees himself making music that is far reaching and people will be able to accept the messages, while getting endorsement deals. When the world hears him they will know that he is here and here for good and will be opening new doors and breaking down old tired barriers with the music- words, sound and power- “music shall never dieâ€.
