Clifton Highfield is a SAG actor and has been improvising since 1995. During 1999-2000, Clifton commuted to Chicago to train at the Improv Olympic (iO). While at iO Clifton was with Business Casual, a harold team ahead of it's time. In 2002 Clifton teamed up with Chuck Charbeneau to form super duo Men in Shirts. With Men in Shirts, he has performed at improv festivals in Chicago, Miami, Phoenix, San Francisco, Waterloo, and Toronto. Clifton has also performed improv in Brisbane, Australia. From 2001-2002 he was seen with the Impro Gladiator’s, 6 of The Best, and also with Brisbane Theatresports. He has performed Improvised movies with the Chicago, Detroit, and Phoenix Neutrino Projects. He also played Walt in the short film "Dog" which can be viewed at http://fuzzyco.com/productions/films/dog/index.html. Lately, if you squint and hunt for him you can see him in the background of many of your favorite television programs. His improv work has also led to voice work on the feature film "I am Legend" from Warner Brothers.
Study
Clifton remains a student of Improvisation, and has studied multiple facets and styles of the art form, including: Short-Form Games; Long-Form Formats; Improv Rules; “Power†Improv; Story-Theatre; Harold; Dramatic; Video; Musical. Clifton’s study of improvisational theater from 1999 is quoted in the book published by Palgrave McMillan, Theatrical Improvisation: Short Form, Long Form and Sketch-Based Improv by Dr. Jeanne Leep.
Instruction
Clifton has been teaching, coaching, and directing Improvisational Theatre since 2002. Workshop highlights include: 6 of The Best -Brisbane; Planet Improv (MI); Oakland Community College; 4 Phoenix Improv Festivals. Directing highlights include: Brisbane’s “Perfect Haroldâ€; Planet Improv's Jaunita Bobo; The Chuck Taylor All-Starz.
Other Notes
*Clifton interned with Greater Media, Inc. in Detroit, MI during 2006. Highlights included assisting events and onsite broadcasts for WRIF, WCSX, and WMGC.
*In 2005, Clifton received state honors for his contributions to the Oakland Community College Forensics team. He placed 2nd overall, and 1st, 2nd, and 5th in three different catagories.
*Clifton was employed by residential builders Fritz Builder’s, Inc. and Superb Home’s, Inc., two Southeast Michigan Builder Industry Association award winners(1999, 2003), during both award winning campaigns.
*Clifton currently resides in Los Angeles, CA.
