Werner Althaus

I've been playing guitar on and off for several decades now. Sometimes I wish I would have practized more over the years but like my buddy Lello said "If you practice you're cheating on your bandmates".I got my start entertaining the neighborhood with my tin-can drumkit at the tender age of 10, soon graduating to boiled-egg-slicer-guitar rockin-out to “Amapola” and “Moonshot” by the Spotniks. After being “trapped” inside a folded horn PA cabinet for several hours during a wild rock concert, I decided that a career in music wasn’t for me. I still ended up wasting my life playing guitar in several Berlin bands better known for their taste in “Schnapps” and their ever-changing line-ups. After loosing our vocalist to the shady world of spies and counter-intelligence, relief came in the form of german guitar legend Eff Jott (RIP, Kollege), who showed me how to get a decent sound without those funny colored toys littering the area in front of guitarist’s feet. I was getting ready for the big time… After moving to the states, I didn’t leave any musical mark in Ohio, Texas, Georgia, Iowa and Nebraska whatsoever.Fast forward to today.MY ARTHRITIS IS GETTING WORSENOV 2007 : I joined SON OF 76 AND THE WATCHMEN and it's been great fun so far. June 2008 : Playing with Son of 76 may just be too little too late but I dig it.
