About Me

VisionSalvadoran in the World is a pioneering transnational network that aims to bridge strategic communication between the Salvadoran Diaspora leadership and key stakeholders in order to contribute to the creation of non-partisan public policies. The organization promotes unity among the Salvadoran Diaspora regardless of intergenerational, political, sexual orientation and religious differences.Mission:Salvadorans in the World uses innovative methods to bringing non-profit organizations, private sector, and government representatives together to collaborate in this network. The organization fosters leadership development by providing a space for dialogue, empowerment workshops, and facilitates access to resources for the Salvadoran Diaspora.Five Years of Success Salvadorans in the World has worked on a number of issues in the last five years. For example:· Helps Salvadoran Hometown Associations obtain funding to complete transnational local development projects in their communities of origin. Salvadorans in the World has work with transnational funding institutions like, the International Fund for Agricultural development for the United Nations, Hispanic in Philanthropy, and CARE International.· The organization fosters gender equity and promotes the empowerment of women through the Salvadorans in the World’s Women Leadership Committee. The committee identifies Salvadoran women around the world that are doing pioneering work in all sectors of society and invites them to collaborate with the organization. Special funding is secured to bring Salvadoran women from around the world to the annual conventions. The Inter-American Foundation for Emerging Immigrant Women Leaders and International Fund for Agricultural Development for the United Nations play a key role in funding travel expenses for women.· Participatory Democracy is a key issue for the 2.5 million Salvadorans that live outside of El Salvador. Therefore, Salvadorans in the World advocates for the implementation of the absentee ballot, a constitutional right enjoyed by the Diasporas of 97 countries, Mexico, Honduras, Panama, Ecuador, etc. The organization works closely with the Human Rights Institute of the Central Americana University and Social Initiative for Democracy to press the Government of El Salvador to implement the absentee ballot in the general elections scheduled in 2009.· Salvadorans in the World promotes youth leadership and identifies development opportunities by providing forums that connect youth living in El Salvador and Salvadoran youth outside of the country. In order to support the empowerment of young Salvadorans now living outside of El Salvador, the organization has assigned a youth representative seat within the executive committee.
