I am a professional classical guitarist. I completed my studies in Classical Guitar Performance at the University of Manitoba Faculty of Music under professor Ryszard Tyborowski and was a scholarship student at the prestigious Domaine Forget Music and Dance Academy where I studied under renown American classical guitarist Bruce Holzman as well as Canadian classical guitarists Jean Valliers (Quebec) and Patrick Roux (Ottawa).
In 2000, I was chosen to perform in the Leo Brouwer (Cuba) Masterclass in San Antonio, Texas by the Guitar Foundation of America. I also performed for Brouwer in 1999 in a Masterclass at the prestigious Domaine Forget Music and Dance Academy in Quebec. In 1998, I was chosen to perform in the David Russell (Scotland) Masterclass in Montreal by the Guitar Foundation of America. In 1999, I once again performed for David Russell in a Masterclass in Edmonton. In 2001, I was chosen by the Guitar Foundation of America to perform in the Ricardo Cobo (Columbia)Masterclass in La Jolla, California. In 2001, I again attended the prestigious Domaine Forget Music Academy in Quebec and was awarded a generous scholarship. I have also performed in the Masterclasses of Roland Dyens (Paris), Pia Gazarek-Offermann (Germany), Norbert Kraft (Canada), Fabio Zanon (Brazil), Alex Dunn (Victoria), Alvin Tung (Toronto), Philip Candelaria (Toronto), Wilma Van Berkel (Toronto), Robert Kubica (Toronto), David Stewart (Ottawa), and Denis Azabagic (Bosnia). I have audited many Masterclasses including the Masterclasses of Costas Cotsiolis (Greece), Pepe Romero (Spain), David Leisner (New York), Eduardo Fernandez (Uraguay), William Kanengieser (USA), Rene Izquerdo (Cuba), Adam Holzman (Texas), Abel Carlevaro (Uraguay), Lorenzo Micheli (Italy), Duo Melis (Spain/Greece) and the Assads (Brazil).
In 1999, I was awarded the Best Overall Performance Award at the Winnipeg Music Competition Festival by Dr. Alexander Dunn and was awarded the Winnipeg Classical Guitar Society Scholarship Prize by Ian Hodges. In 2000, I was again awarded the Best Overall Performance Award at the Winnipeg Music Competition Festival this time by Fabio Zanon and again won the 2000 Winnipeg Classical Guitar Society Scholarship Prize and was a finalist in the prestigious Lawrence Genser Performance Competition.
I currently teach classical guitar for the University of Manitoba School of Music Preparatory Division and the Manitoba Conservatory of Music and Arts and hold the position of Vice President of the Winnipeg Classical Guitar Society.
I have received awards from both the Manitoba Arts Council and the Canada Council for the Arts in recognition of my career in classical guitar performance.
My recent season performance highlights include two performances with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra in October of 2006 as a featured soloist in the WSO's prestigious Masterworks series performing Osvaldo Golijov's "Oceana" and three performances with the WSO and the Manitoba Opera Association performing Verdi's "Otello" in April 2007, a performance with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra in April 2008 at the MTS Centre and a full length recital for the Winnipeg Classical Guitar Society in June 2008.
