Peter Storzenecker has been playing guitar for 20 years. His classical training started in Sudbury at Cambrian College with Philip Candelaria where he obtained a diploma in music performance. In 1996 in Sudbury he won the first prize in Guitar performance as well as numerous Kiwanis competitions. In 1998 he was one of the winners of the Sudbury Symphony Concerto Competition and performed Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s concerto in D with the orchestra.He has completed the Bachelor of Music (magna cum laude) in performance and composition and the Master of Music programs at the University of Ottawa studying guitar performance with Patrick Roux and composition with Steven Gellman. In 2001 he was the recipient of a scholarship to study at the Domaine Forget music and Dance festival with world renowned guitarist and composer Leo Brouwer. During the first year of the Master’s program he composed a guitar chamber concerto and a guitar duo which he performed as part of his recital requirement. In 2002 he performed for CBC radio at the National Gallery of Canada with flutist Donna Spurvey. His free improvisation ensemble "Fortuna" also had the opportunity to perform for CBC radio two at the museum of nature in Ottawa.Peter has also had the opportunity to play for many distinguished guitarists including: The Assad Duo, Fabio Zanon, Leo Brouwer, William Kanengiser (of the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet), Jeffrey McFadden, Norbert Kraft and Ricardo Cobo. In 2003 he travelled to Montelimar, France to compete at the "festival voix et guitares au monde†with his duo partner George Bailey where they were semi-finalists.Currently Peter is involved in several projects including a gypsy jazz group (Django Libre), and a jazz fusion group (Adam Duncan Project). In the summer of 2008 he will be involved in the composition of a score for a film entitled "Lustrale" - featuring choreography from Anik Bouvrette. He is also involved in the production and release of a cd of all canadian classical guitar music (half of which are his own compositions) with his duo partner George Bailey and a cd of gypsy jazz with his group Django Libre.Peter is a full time guitar instructor at the Ottawa Folklore Centre
