We have an idea for a radio station. A non-corporate radio station for the Sierra Foothills, in Northern California. The station would be a community radio station serving the Gold Country area, and stream live programming to the world. We have a vision of a station that plays a variety of music, with no real format. The goal would be to play WHAT THE LISTENER WANTS. After working for commercial radio stations, we believe it would be awesome to build something different. Most stations are beholden to SOME sort of corporate structure, such as NPR, ABC, etc. Not on RADIO FREE NC! We have a complete studio on top of a 4000 foot mountain. The only thing we need now is the capital to: buy computers, buy bandwidth for streaming, apply for a license with the FCC, buy a transmitter, antenna(s), the associated hardware, and funding to pay the inevitable bills that will follow (power for the transmitter, staff, automation system). We already have several colleagues that can contribute content. All we need now is someone to invest, or a group of investors to get the ball rolling!
