someone with whom to revolutionize american letters and then drink champagne with hollywood starlets (if you know where that came from, then you are someone that i would truly like to meet)
this list can go on forever, but some favorites are tom waits, sigur ros, yo la tengo, modest mouse, low, luna, earlimart, macha, the glands, nina simone, pj harvey, dakah, iron & wine, franz ferdinand, serge gainsbourg, broken social scene, magnetic fields, songs: ohia, palace or anything by will oldham under his many monikers, john coltrane, chet baker, the kinks, ali farke toure, bingo!, explosions in the sky, ted leo, jonathan richman, ray charles, johnny cash, elliot smith, the mountain goats, the clash, the pogues, sound team, voxtrot, okkervil river, arcade fire, silversun pickups, joanna newsome, marvin gaye....it keeps on going because i am a little obsessed
ok i am a geek here too but some movies watched several times include the princess and the warrior, the end of the affair, donnie darko, harold and maude, breakfast at tiffany's, the big lebowski, cool hand luke, cat on a hot tin roof, who's afraid of virginia woolf?, john hughes flicks in general, i also will admit to being a lord of the rings geek too, lost in translation, eternal sunshine of a spotless mind, the station agent, croupier, shallow grave, evil dead 2
don't watch much except for dvds...but there are a few favorites that still amuse...twin peaks, the simpsons, the office, king of the hill, profitt, and probably my all-time favorite, the muppet show. i am a sucker for masterpiece theatre too. not having cable has caused me to embrace the beauty that is pbs.
books: the master & marguerite, still life with woodpecker, the wind-up bird chronicles, twenty love poems and a song of despair, kafkfa on the shore - it's easier to list writers: thomas hardy, murakami, nabokov, neruda, w. somerset maugham, raymond carver, david sedaris, flannery o'conner...this is hard for me because i read a book every few days so this list just keeps growing
