About Me

myspace background

The years have come quickly and the journey has been long but so worth every f*d up beautiful minute of it. I'm happy to be smiling and living and loving. God has blessed me time and time again and this poetry thing is what He's given to help get me through...a way to heal and better myself. It's the only thing that has stayed constant in my life no matter what has gone down so give respect to all those who turn pens into paintbrushes...a masterpiece with the written word to share with the world...that's the highest spirituality.
What I write is what I know and what I've been through. The words come from the grimy New York, laid back Cali, Texas noose tied around my Iranian neck that shaped me. From where I was born, where I've lived and where I finally learned to breathe...just some words thrown out into the universe hoping to land on someone who might need to hear them.
No matter what you have to say or how you choose to say it, Allah has given you a voice...use it. Like my man Lorenzo say "The saddest thing in life is wasted talent".

Influences: "My place is the Placeless, my trace is the Traceless;
'Tis neither body nor soul, for I belong to the soul of the Beloved.
I have put duality away, I have seen that the two worlds are one;
One I seek, One I know, One I see, One I call.
He is the first, He is the last, He is the outward, He is the inward..."
-MEVLANA JALALUDDIN RUMI (13th Century Persian Sufi Mystic & Poet)

Artistic and spiritual insight runs deep and there are so many great poets and philosophers from ancient Persia and modern day Iran. Of course, there are the greats...Hafez, Sa'adi, Khayyam, Forough Farokhzad...but Rumi...Mowlavi...touches my soul, he has opened up my heart to God and, for this, Rumi is my spiritual guide.

Influences are found all around...in the sound of a child's tears, in nature's laughter at our arrogance, in the silence of forgotten memories...you just have to be empty enough to allow creative fullness. Feel me?

Tupac...not necessary to say why, is it?

AZ...for keepin hip hop lovely, as it should be. "the most hated, the most under-rated"...top 3 baby. mad RESPECT & LOVE

NAS ESCO - lyrical genuis; big ups to 'The Firm'...one of the best albums eva made; Mos Def & Talib - Blackstar; BIG DADDY KANE - my 1st love; 112; Carl Thomas; Mary J.; MOBB DEEP

Allen Iverson because every girl needs a lil thug luvin --- 'every time i get out, they pull me back in' --- damn u A.I.!

SAN FERNANDO VALLEY, CA and QUEENS, NY...like me, a contradiction...about as different as 2 places could be. luv for both the 818 & 718 for giving me words to write...my home and heart are bicoastal.
