About Me

If you ever catch fire, try to avoid seeing yourself in the mirror, because I bet that's what *really* throws you into a panic . . . . I'm originally from western MA- moved to seattle a couple of years back. If you're around for the summer, well done.. seattle is the place to be.

My Interests

seattle soccer scene, lake union and washington on my outrigger canoe, tooling around in my nissan and playing cards, classic comfy reeboks and bootcut jeans, my macintosh g5, trailrunning and finding outdoor excuses to wear goretex

I'd like to meet:

I guess I just hope to find people who aren't afraid to be genuine to someone they just met. I'm always into getting myself and other people out of their element at least once a day--how can you grow if you never see or hear anything new? if you are fun and intelligent with a decent sense of humor, say hi I'll write back.

Music:

have been hooked to a couple of death cab songs lately.. grew up listening to paul simon, joe jackson, talking heads.. sunday nights with my fam would mostly be miles and coltrain. saturday morning car talk on NPR. through my mid teens it was NIN, tool, steely dan, lots of hendrix and the doors. late teens was getting into electronic, ambient refined music, then chemical brothers, prodigy and crystal method. had my coldplay stint couple of years ago, now my ipod is fairly eccentric- anything from tom petty, bob dylan and cash to bob marley remixes and black eyes peas.

Movies:

anchorman, 40yrold virgin, the matrix, die hard, alien.. anyone remember flight of the navigator? space balls and anything with explosions, women and shiny objects.

Television:

family guy, mythbusters, dirty jobs, daily show, colbert report, any discovery and history specials that use CGI to show mass destruction because hey, plenty of soccer on FSN, UFC on spike, american chopper

Books:

I'm basically a tom clancy, fiction-with-fact kind of guy
Elias's Other Interests

When I watch 'news' it's basically filtered through these two guys. Jon Stewart

Stand-Up Comedians
Some people can be on or off with standup, these guys always bring (or brought) their game.
Ventriloquists should find another job, there is no place for full grown adults that not only talk to themselves, but talk to puppets.... especially in public. Jim Gaffigan
Mitch Hedberg
SNL
Here are the skits we know and love.
Anyone who watched SNL in the 90's should know about Deep Thoughts. Here's a search engine I made in high school, hosted on my past employers website.

Mountain Hardwear Trango 2 Tent
Through years of backpacking, this is the most bomber tent you will find anywhere. Absolutely super fast to set up, can take 70+mph winds, plenty of storage space, etc. Find one on ebay for around $200.
iPod Nano Wallet
Buy it at any Apple store for around $20. Leather, Slim and is pretty tough. Can also carry business cards. When working out, etc the flip side of the case can be tucked into waistband for easy access.
Nissan 2004 XTerra
Last year of this body style, before it was changed to look like a hummer. Capable 4wd vehicle. I initially thought the gear basket was for trend, turns out it's perfect for dirty soccer gear, shoes and neoprene. Find one in excellent condition for around twenty grand in washington.
BluBlockers Sunglasses
Chances are, I will probably have some type of damage to my eyes from wearing these too much. These pretty much work on anybody. Don't make the rookie mistake of pushing them all the way up, they are made to be worn casual. As with any pair of cheap sunglasses, you can bend them to your liking. $15 at any Walgreens.
GSI Stainless-Steel Flask
No frills flask for around twenty bucks at REI. Fits perfectly into the inside pockets of my suits. The cap hinge makes more noise than I'd like when drinking out of it. Over time you'll learn to silence it like a true alchoholic.
Reebok Classic Ballistic EXT
Around forty bucks, they are the original classic comfy reeboks. I would put them in a close first when up against the Saucony Jazz Classic.
SoniCare Elite 7800
I hated it at first, now I can't live without it. This is the fairly no-frills model with a timer, excellent battery life (seriously, weeks and weeks without a recharge) From the first time it's turned on, it slowly and progressively uses a faster setting until after two weeks it will be on full power. This is nice because it's almost unbearable the first couple of times. Find one online for $110-$140.
Black Diamon Helion
BD was one of the first to start waterproofing the entire lighting assembly.. this one has LED and halogen options, also three brightness settings for each. Also, it remembers which bulb and setting you had it on last. Not too heavy, stays firmly in place and is all round, one of the better ones I've found. It will cost you about seventy bucks.
Panasonic SA-PM18 Stereo
It uses two sets of wires per speaker sending highs to one and lows to the other. This makes for excellent sound for a small system. Also, the remote has a decent range.. better than most I've used. To top that, I leave mine on aux for days even weeks at a time for three years now and it's still cherry. $100-150 (btw, price hasn't gone down much in three years)
