Dead Letter Office are an alternative/progressive rock band from Kidderminster near Birmingham in the UK. Formed in the summer of 2004, we found our current line-up early in 2005. Within recent months we have been writing and performing increasingly better and more forward thinking music and going from strength to strength. This includes being invited to perform live on the "Friday Session" show on BBC Hereford & Worcester and receiving numerous and beaming reviews thanks to our energetic live shows.
Press Reviews:-
The Fly - Live Review
Dead Letter Office are a triumph; an intense blend of Pixies/Joy Division fractured guitars, breath-taking and delicate Radiohead/Muse tinged anthems and an awe-inspiring sense of drama. Epic and life affirming music.
BBC Hereford And Worcester - Live Review:-
Intelligent lyrics delivered with passion and backed by haunting instrumentation. Shades of The Cure but with much more feeling. During their set I warmed to Dead Letter Office immensely, a truly talented and unique young band.
Cnet.com review of debut E.P:-
In the U.S. Postal Service, a dead letter office is the final repository for undeliverable mail. Which is no place for Birmingham's Dead Letter Office. Their spare, echoing sound recalls the whispering indie of Galaxie 500 or a lost Movietone out-take. These scribbled sonic postcards are worth delivering.
Local Paper review of debut E.P:-
Some of the most memorable music to grace the world in years gone by has been driven by angst and emotion. Most of the greats have had that edge indefinable yet completely understood. Dead Letter Office don't want to fit into any scene, or to blend in. Their darker and more experimental side will always ensure their own brand of emotional rock never quite succumbs to what the mainstream demands. That is what truly defines the unique and what demands remembering. They truly posses that quality we know as an edge.
BBC Birmingham - Live Review:-
The drummer appeared to have been possessed by Keith Moon for the evening and vocally the singer reminds one of Lloyd Cole on a good day. A band with undeniably strong songs and a commanding stage presence, we predict big things.
Shock Radio Review Of Debut E.P:-
All the way from, ahem, Birmingham, Dead Letter Office combine intellegance with vulnerability in their debut EP. With melodies influenced from Pink Floyd to Radiohead, Dead Letter Office bring haunting vocals and a dark, atmospheric sound to otherwise very listenable music.
