About Me

TURN VOLUME OFF BY CLICKING SPEAKER AT TOP:

Kick Drum Decade (KDD) is a longform improv troupe out of IO West, home of Los Angeles’ best improv comedy. KDD performs the “The Harold” as developed by the legendary Del Close. In “The Harold”, the performers take a single suggestion from the audience, using it as a springboard to create a half hour universe of scenes and group games, connected by character, story, and theme. KDD prides itself on pushing the envelope of the “rules” of The Harold while remaining true to the art form of improvised theatre.

All members of KDD are IO West Training Center Alumni. Improv classmates Chris Alvarado, Dan Hartley, Darren O’Hare, Emanuel Borria, Justin Uretz and Ryan Bradley gave birth to “Kick Drum Decade” in the late spring of 2007. While continuing their training, they began rehearsing and performing, finding their voice and growing closer in the process. In the winter of 2007-2008, KDD grew stronger with the additions of Sunny Peabody and Genevieve Jones, and guidance of their coach, the extremely talented Brian O’Connell.
From February to June 2008, KDD reigned as the IO West Main Stage Cagematch Champion. The “Cagematch” is a friendly competition where two teams perform and the audience votes their favorite, who moves on and defends the title the following week. During their run, KDD posted sixteen (16) straight victories, drawing a packed house each and every Thursday. This streak earned KDD a spot in the 2008 Los Angeles Improv Festival, where they battled improv juggernauts in a Cagematch tournament of all-stars and took The Championship.
Kick Drum Decade is dedicated to providing its audience with a unique experience in improvised comedy that far exceeds the price of admission.
