Democracy matters is a NON-PARTISAN organization that involves college students who work toward getting the negative influences of private money out of our public offices. Too often today it seems that politicians are bought and sold by the 0.25% of Americans who can afford to give large sums of money to campaigns in order to get their agendas through by influencing legislators with money. We lobby and educate Americans about a system called CLEAN ELECTIONS. CLEAN ELECTIONS is a form of full public financing for the campaigns of candidates running for public office. This allows the elected officials to vote for the greater good of the people at large rather than large private interests. If those who pay for political campaigns own the politicians, then by having the public fund these campaigns politicians are beholden to the public.
