Where am I and why am I in this handbasket?

About Me

LIFE IS NOT MEASURED BY THE AMOUNT OF BREATHS WE TAKE, BUT BY THE MOMENTS THAT TAKE OUR BREATH AWAY... If you are here you probably know me. I LOVE life and try to live without excuses, regrets or remorse. I try to live with adventure, evolution, and enlightenment. I tend to believe in karma and try to stay on its good side. Family, friends, and the "little things" have utmost importance, and my extracurricular affinities involve music/movies, travel and the arts. I love finding ways to combine them all! So even if you do know me, you may not know some breath-stealing moments of MY LIFE that I reflect on when I need to smile (or cry):...I passed on seeing Jim Morrison's grave in Paris to go stare at the Mona Lisa. Love you Jim, but da Vinci, come on...Went to Liverpool, stood on Penny Lane, wrote a poem for the deceased George Harrison and visited Stu Sutcliffe's grave. See the movie "Backbeat" if you don't know Stu...Went to Dublin on St. Pat's. Missed the parade...Went to Sun Studio in Memphis and sat at Jerry Lee Lewis's piano. Went to the Lorraine to pay homage to Martin Luther King. Went to Beale Street to pay homage to, well, everybody. Toasted Alan Freed for inventing the phrase "Rock and Roll." Plan to toast Alan again in Cleveland, when I finally get to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame...Went to L.A. to have a drink at the Riot Hyatt and toast River Phoenix's ghost at the Viper Room. They asked me if I wanted sour mix in my Whiskey Sour...Went to New Orleans twice to see how Proud Mary actually was...I was nearly crushed to death on the front row of an AC/DC concert. Highway to Hell indeed! It was fabulous...I once screamed so loudly at Zakk Wylde that he threw a cup at me to shut me up. It didn't...I saw Guns and Roses and Aerosmith both sing Mama Kin on the same night. Love that freakin' song!!!...Saw the Ramones when they were all still living...I personally told Ryan Adams, Kim Lenz, Dale Watson, Hank III, Wilco, and Southern Culture on the Skids JUST HOW MUCH THEY ROCK...I sold Gwyneth Paltrow a copy of "Killing Me Softly" by the Fugees...I was backstage for Bush/No Doubt when Gavin Rossdale started macking on Gwen Stefani and she pretended to ignore him. (She just had their second child)...I adopted a manatee. It didn't fit in the bathtub...I met Timothy Leary when I was in college...I went to the Field of Dreams in Dyersville, Iowa and stood in the corn. (That kind of naturally flows in after Timothy Leary, no?)

Dead rock stars. Dead actors. HEATH WHY???Without all the decay and rigor mortis, of course.

Music:

My cup runneth WAY over. I'll get back to this one. But Sweet Emotion is my favorite song ever ever ever EVER.

Movies:

Runneth over again. Back soon. R.I.P. HEATH.In the meantime, Ewan McGregor, Ewan McGregor, Ewan McGregor. Dougray Scott, Gerard Butler, James McAvoy. You all make Scotland proud. JOHN CUSACK, not enough words. Putting you and Jack Black together in HIGH FIDELITY was pure genius! ALMOST FAMOUS - thank you Cameron Crowe for knowing former pro skater Jason Lee would be brilliant, thank you for making this, and thank you for marrying Nancy Wilson! Kate Winslet, Judi Dench, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Kevin Spacey - you make it look so easy. Matt Damon, you are a Bourne stud. And I can't stop loving LOST BOYS or DAZED AND CONFUSED.Those who spin gold: Working Title, The Weinstein Company, Focus Features.

Television:

Lost, Medium, Fringe, Weeds, Pushing Daisies, Life on Mars, Grey's Anatomy. And I'm sure I'll rent The Tudors on DVD, if it rocks as much as Rome did.Gone but never forgotten: X-Files and Sex and the City.

Books:

Well, I probably saw the movie, especially if it was by, about, or based on the work of Jane Austen. LOVE music bios. Just bought the book by Slash and read it cover to cover. It is fabulous. Also own "Walk This Way," naturally. Finally, never leave home without Frommer's Travel Guides. They have SAVED me.

Heroes:

My Dad, a school principal, a poet, a movie extra. Rest in Peace!! And ALL my friends and family are heroes, as they know. Love!!
