Interferenze is a festival of art and new technologies that since 2003 has taken place in the Partenio area, rural site in the Campania region, South of Italy.
Interferenze analyses the ways in which technological and digital universes and its infrastructures agree and differ from the natural and the organic. Setting the path for a new fruition of art and nature Interferenze gives the chance to explore the two territories, allowing the embedment into the physicality of the woods and the local communities and into the virtuality of the electronic arts in one totalizing experience: breaking the boundaries between the urban, technological the inorganic and the rural, archaic and organic worlds.
Already a reference within the events devoted at the aesthetics of new technologies, Interferenze has hosted some of the most important artists, critics and researchers in the electronic arts field. It actively collaborates with cultural institutions for a transnational cooperation among organizers, artists and institutions on the international panorama.

"Digital and organic are never antonyms at Interferenze, the annual festival of new arts taking place in San Martino Valle Caudina (Italy). In the middle of a beautiful chestnut trees forest the 2006 edition lead the young local enthusiastic curator crew to succeed in integrating digital culture with their own cultural roots. 'Naturalis Electronica' was the leit motif of three days of electronic art, celebrated in a friendly atmosphere with no barriers between artists and public, sharing almost the same spaces, perfectly mixing the local environment and food tradition with the artistic research on the edge of digital and organic. The curators' commitment to this philosophy is almost total and it was seamlessly implemented in the festival program attracting the usual mass of thousands of local curious people plus experts arrived from all over the nation attending the event [...] With a solid partnership with the Pixelache festival in Helsinki, Interferenze is uniquely questioning the digital art festival form, going deeper and deeper in its own territory roots and extending accordingly to the rest of the world its specific research."

"Effettivamente, di interferenze si tratta. Non collaborazione, confronto, adattamento: è l'interferenza tra ambiente naturale, cultura gastronomica e cultura digitale, al centro del festival omonimo di suoni, arti visive e nuovi media, tenutosi per tre giorni nello scenario surreale dei boschi della Valle Caudina, presso Benevento. Insieme al programma 2006 che comprendeva seminari, installazioni e performance video e audio, avevano luogo sedute gastronomiche collettive, perfettamente coerenti con la ricerca più avanzata che si svolgeva accanto. [...]mentre suoni e luci si insinuavano tra le cortecce secolari degli alberi, alimentando un territorio semi-incontaminato, il bosco diventava un'isola privata e pubblica allo stesso tempo. Naturalis electronica. Una sperimentazione così libera ma senza sbavature, mediante l'uso di software quali jitter e maja, max/msp, linguaggi tipo processing e altro, in un tale contesto, svincola sempre più la cultura digitale da uno dei luoghi comuni che più tenacemente le si accompagna, quello della sua presunta freddezza. Se oggi è sempre più frequente la conversione di strumenti elettronici e informatici in veicoli di espressione delle emozioni personali e di supporto alle relazioni sociali, Interferenze dimostra (sin dall'abstract), che è ormai possibile riannodare i legami, scioltisi nel tempo, tra mondo tecnologico, urbanizzato e inorganico, e territorio rurale, arcaico e organico.
