Those kids got some problems
They wanna find a better way
And until they find one
They'll keep on shouting "Please kill ME!"
--The Disgusteens, "Please Kill Me"
The Disgusteens started out in early 2007 with Derek Hazard (under the pseudonym 'Captain Kidd') on vocals, Joe Friday on guitar, a bass player named Cody and Taylor DiModica on drums. Cody and Taylor both left the band, and Buddy Void sat in on drums for the band's first shows. Paul Redd joined the band on bass in May of that year and helped refine the Disgusteen's sound. In late July, 2007, Brian O'Blood joined as a permanent drummer and completed the Disgusteens first serious line-up. Later that summer, the band recorded their first single, 'Nuclear Girl', with Ruined Records. The promotional single made it's debut on the Wednesday night punk radio show "The Blitzkrieg Zone w/ Danny Secretion" and gained the Disgusteens small notoriety in the Sacramento area. The band was signed to Fishnuts Records later that year, and by November, they had released a brand new 3-song EP, just in time for Danny Secretion's Annual Lame-Ass Birthday Bash. In January, 2008, Brian O'Blood was forced to leave the band in order to serve a tour of duty in the country of Qatar. Before Brian's departure, the Disgusteens recorded a handful of songs with Fishnuts Records. The songs were shelved, and are pending to be released sometime in the near future. Determined to keep the band going as smoothly as possible, the Disgusteens recruited long-time friend Adam Latrine as Brian's temporary replacement, and continued to gig as normal without cancelling any shows. This is the Disgusteens current state of affairs, but as I'm sure you know...the guys always have something new to say and do...
