I am here for Friends

About Me

Me? I was born a Sagittarian in the same year that Martin Luther King, Andy Warhol and Robert Kennedy were shot (loud noises scare me). As well as being short-sighted, short-tempered and short of money... I'm simply... short.
I share a happy orange flat with a miserable chinchilla called Grouch. (UPDATE: Grouchie Boy died in Spetember 2005, but I'm leaving him on here, for now, cuz I miss him).
I'm passionate about music, film and books, and in each, have a penchant for all things quirky.
I eat far too much Halloumi cheese and spend far too much time lounging in pubs and being shy.
I have a BA degree, but, like my exercise bike, I dont use it much!
Um... what esle? I write stories, screenplay's and songs, I stay in the cinema till the last credit has rolled and I love, curry, boozy conversation, the sun on my skin, walking in the country, that gorgeous smell a woman has just behind her ear, kisses and watching thunder storms.
I'm on Facebook too, so if you prefer that add me there as well. ;o)
*UPDATE* I'm going travelling around Central America in December. (Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, Belize and Mexico). I'm DEAD excited. WOOHOO! If anyone's gonna be in those areas between December 2007 and March 2008... lemme know! ;o)

My Interests

Writing, reading, guitaring, being out of the house. All the usual stuff really with a little bit of eccentricity mixed in to keep life interesting!

I'd like to meet:

I like creative, passionate, honest people who've got something to say about themselves and the world. Apathy is such a turn off isn't it?
Oh, by the way, if you have naked pix on your profile... we won't get on! ;o)
NB: My 'Top Friends' are in order of how long I've kown them, not in order of preference. (You think I'd have the Pigg Boy as number one?) 'Real life' friends first, then online chums, then musicians I like. Why am I explaining this???

Music:

"Ever since I can remember, I've always LOVED music. Y'know I didn't know anything about these titles, until I started dealing with people like you, the media, and they start giving it names; rock 'n' roll, rythm 'n' blues, jazz...! There's only two kinds of music - good and bad!" -An excerpt from "I Love Music" by Flunk. It says it all really, cuz me, I just like good music. :o)
Angus & Julia Stone - Mango Tree
Lloyd, I'm Ready To Be Heartbroken by Camera Obscura
Fools Work by Inara George
This used to be 'our' song... now it's just MINE cuz I love it! Sing it Lauren! He he!
Here's the gorgeous Gemma Hayes in action. YUM!

Movies:

Crash, Into The Wild, À bout de Souffle, Frankie Starlight, Atonement, TransAmerica, The Station Agent, Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind, Finding Nemo, Les Quatre Cents Coups, Stardust, Bad Education, Elling, American Beauty, Amelie, August Rush, Lost In Translation, Shrek, The Bucket List, Donnie Darko, Imagine You & Me, The World According To Garp, Garden State, Being John Malkovich, The Hotel New Hampshire...on and on I could go...!
Oh, can I put my own film? Ok, I will. Leonard and the Lake. There!
"MEET ME IN MONTAUK..."

Television:

Not a BIG TV watcher anymore, but do occasionally watch music shows, documentaries, Catherine Tate, Lost, League of Gentlemen, Eastenders.

Books:

Love books... um... hard to list them all! I just read, read, read. Kate Atkinson, Phillip Pullman, John Irving, Julia Darling, Jeanette Winterson. Just LOADS!!! I like good writers over good story tellers. There IS a difference.

Heroes:

Mostly, ordinary people who affect me and help me see life and other people in the best possible way.

Isn't is FANTASTIC that somebody in local government decided, eventually, to wipe out T. Dan Smith's ugly legacy in this city?  Two of my most HATED buildings have been flattened in the last year.  Lo...
