The Oskar & Psycholovers – formed in 2006 - are a neo glam rock band with a pulse racing sound in the tradition of T.Rex, Slade and Roxy Music, though the band has created its own stylistic premises by combining the punk tempo with a pronounced affinity for melodic subtleties.
With its capacity to energize the crowd, the band has the stance to make people talk. The punk dance beats and melodic ballads are so infectious that to forget them you will have to remove them from your head surgically. The band is fronted by a flamboyant singer/song writer who puts on a remarkable live show worthy of the early David Bowie. He is "a man with makeup and a scar" who rejects machismo and is not afraid to appear vulnerable or delusional.
The candid lyrics evoke raw intensity: the innocent sense of entitlement to be adored (Psycholover); narcissistic determination to make the whole world desire you (Go Go Boy); feeling let down when you offer someone the whole world and discover you are not wanted (I'm Not Your Baby). But the main leitmotif is not giving up on yourself – "Call me freak or unique, I keep on doing my thing".
The band is currently preparing the release of their first album and plays periodic gigs in the New York City where the band members reside.
