About Me

The primrose is a Tokyo-based experimental band/collaboration/project led by singer and multi-instrumentalist KG (Keiji Matsui). Their lush, multi-layered sound can be described as autumnal, atmospheric, and ethereal. Originally formed in 1995 as a 3-piece band, the primrose became a solo act in 2004 when members Koji and Kinu left. Now KG is joined by friends Maki999 (drums from HB), Taro Nagata (guitar), Ayumi Hashimoto (cello), Daiske Kudo (electric bass from Vasallo crab 75) , Tomzuin.h (keyboards) and Toru Sasaki (synthesizer).Releases:2 full albums, 3 EPs and 6 compilation albums in Japan1 single in the UKThe primrose has performed with a variety of acts including Luna, Arab Strap, and Fiel Garvie. Currently working on a new album, with upcoming shows in the UK.

The first
