NO BAND REQUESTS PLEASE!!!!

About Me

Still going the best I can after 40 years. Rock and roll is killing my life as Rev/Vega said but not before the other things that are killing me: existance, stupidity and ignorance. A resident of Lenexa, Kansas (just west of Kansas City, MO) as of May 2006.
Music (creating it and writing about it), photography, the pursuit of the eternal clothing-optional party and being a wage slave have occupied my time since I bought a Sex Pistols "Holidays in the Sun" 45 from a former girlfriend in 1977 - yes, that's 1977. I may be older than you but I am probably in better shape than you. Nyah.
Otherwise, I have been married to the former Brenda Allen since June 2000, have a beautiful daughter, Sierra Vivian Munroe (born January 14, 2003), moved away from the suburban nightmare that is Connecticut in February 1999 to Portland, Maine. I miss my friends from the Anthrax but don't miss the state.
I wrote, edited, published, etc. the fanzine Chairs Missing from 1986 to 1996. Hopefully you have an issue.
I may be too straightforward for a lot of people out there - I have no tattoos or piercings (since I am convinced I wouldn't look any better with them so I'd rather put the money towards food, etc.), I don't have any cool rock'n'roll clothes and would rather meet Robert Pollard, Colin Newman or Clint Conley than Danzig, Peter Murphy or (insert rock douchebag here). Wait, I have met Robert Pollard, Colin Newman and Clint Conley. Call me dull and ordinary, I really don't give a rat's ass. I've heard it before and could care less about images.
I am convinced that MTV is responsible for dumbing down a generation of people far worse than any right-wing talk show host could. Also, all the crop of emo/MTV-friendly bands (Taking Back Sunday, ad nauseum) should be sent on a one-way flight to Iraq... with rifle targets on them... and "please kill me now" written in Arabic across their chests.

My Interests

Independent rock music, photography, Brazil, progressive concerns, Boston Red Sox, warm weather, most anything that engages the mind and body (get your mind out of the gutter).

I'd like to meet:

People into this indie-rock/punk stuff, if you not only remember but remember seeing Black Flag, Husker Du, Mission of Burma (Mk I), etc., we need to talk. Especially looking for those who frequented the clubs in CT: The Anthrax (Stamford and Norwalk), TK's, etc. Bonus Points if you can recite the address of Trash American Style without looking at whitepages.com.

Looking to talk with punk rock moms/dads about how they can balance being a "responsible" parent and still satisfy their r'n'r' side.

Also looking for anyone who lives in the Kansas City area for shows, and to discuss events.

And for some reason, I have the world's largest amount of bootleg Low, Swerverdriver and Mission of Burma recordings but could always use more - contact me.

Music:

Mission of Burma, Husker Du, 76% Uncertain, Wire, Gang of Four, Swervedriver, Mogwai, Minutemen, Maserati, Bedhead, The New Year, Codeine, Low, Explosions in the Sky, Stars of the Lid, Black Flag, Clash, Sex Pistols, all other 70's punk/post-punk, New Bomb Turks, Conifer, Gaunt, Pelican, Cinemechanica, Maserati, Russian Circles, Guided By Voices, Assuck, Agoraphobic Nosebleed, The Durutti Column, Aix En Klemm, Labradford, A. Dying Gymanst, Buzzcocks, The Wedding Present, Manic Hispanic, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, Melvins, Suicide, Bitch Magnet, Shellac, Volcano Suns, A Certain Ratio, Joy Division, Galaxie 500, Crispy Ambulance, The For Carnation, Lewis Black, Engine Kid, Angry Samoans, Head of David, Sebadoh, Dino Jr., comedian Bob Marley, D.R.I., Didjits, Dwarves, A.O.D., Karp, Gore, Main, Loop, Elvis Costello (pre-1983), 10cc (original lineup), Didijits, Circle Jerks (1st 12"), Squirrel Bait, Lost Generation, Brian Eno, Spinanes, Government Issue, Jawbox, William S. Burroughs, PiL, Don Caballero, Johnboy, Moving Targets, Love 666 (2nd LP), Sorry, The Gloria Record, My Bloody Valentine, Chavez, The Crucifucks (1st LP), old-school CT HC (Vatican Commandos, NMOT, etc.), Monsterland and the post-punk Danbury CT bands, Arcwelder, Idaho, Neon From Candlelight, Shallow North Dakota, Legiao Urbana and other Brazilian post-punk outfits, way too many more to mention.

Movies:

rockumentaries like Not a Photograph, We Jam Econo, D.O.A., The Filth and the Fury, 24 Hour Party People, Dig!, Low in Europe, The History of the Undertones, Nirvana Live Tonight Sold Out, Punk!, etc. Non-rockumentary films: Das Boot, Marx Bros., Laurel & Hardy, Chaplin, 3 Stooges (sorry, guilty pleasure), The Legend of Ron Jeremy, Supersize Me, any Michael Moore, Clockwork Orange, amateur porn (especially the ones I was in), Faith Rewarded (OK, that's not a "movie" per se), etc.
By the way, I hate horror, gore, splatter, or "Faces of Death"-type films - I get sick watching nurses draw blood out of me, so give me good nude flesh still attached on the bones, thank you.

Television:

Laugh In, Monty Python's Flying Circus, Family Guy, Harold and the Purple Crayon.... but I mostly avoid TV and enjoy the real world (not that damn MTV show).

Books:

The Complete Peanuts series (best stuff is pre-1974), any Dennis the Menace, Andy Capp, Calvin & Hobbes, old B.C., Wizard of Id, Please Kill Me, Our Band Could Be Your Life, Win It For..., Surviving Grady, any Lester Bangs, William S. Burroughs, Charles Bukowski, etc.

Heroes:

My daughter Sierra (I hope the world's a better place to live in when you're an adult); my wife Brenda, creative non-hateful people, David Ortiz.
