Formed in early 2003 in Ashington North East England out of a mutual love of The Wildhearts and Green Day. Making it clear from day one the band would share the passion and energy of their heroes.
Serious rehearsing paid off that summer with the band joining the ever growing gig circuit in Newcastle, and finished off the year with a headline show at Head Of Steam in December.January 2004 saw the band enter the studio for the first time, CVC in Wylam to record the Demo 'Dreaming in England EP'. Junkster clocked up nearly 50 gigs that year playing with the likes of The BulBs, The Flamin' Eights and The Baby Rattlesnakes, to name but a few.More recordings took place throughout the year, all at Oldwell Studio Blaydon. 'The Revenge Of The Songs You Think You've Heard Before' saw a glowing review in 'The Crack' Magazine. While both the 'New Era' and 'Bored & Ignored' EPs gained airplay on BBC Radio Newcastles Northern Uproar Show.January 2005, the 'Adrenalin/Bullet' single was recorded to promote a mini Tour of Norway which saw the band play Stavenger, Oslo and Bergen as well a play on Norwegian Radio Show 'Hit Factory'. On returning home, the growing interest in the band earned them support slots with punk legends The UK Subs and The Vibrators.Junkster recorded new single 'Happy Tragedy/Make A Noise' in April with a pair of slick punk/rock/pop/riff sing-a-longs. The 4 Track 'Alco-Seltzer EP' quickly followed in May earning the BAND OF THE MONTH title on top UK Rock n Roll website FIVE MILES HIGH. Meanwhile the band set off on a self financed 'No Fun No Sun' Tour in July round England finishing up with a blinding gig at The 12 Bar London.November 2006 Junkster played at the world famous Cavern Club in Liverpool again making more new friends and helping spread the word!
