Delta Force is mainly connsisted of highly trained personnel to defuse hostile situations in a matter of minutes. This profile was created to commemorate the mwn who lost there lives on the tragic day in October of 1993. Mohammad Farrah aidid was a warlord in Somolia Africa. He was controling the food supply that was ment for teh starving citizens of a rival group. Starvation was his weapon. President Clinton had to do someting about this. He sent over Marines to help the UN Peace Core to restore order. But as soon as Clinton withdrew the Marines, Aidid had ordered war on the remaning UN Peace core members. They shot down a pakistani helicopter and slaughtered the four men inside. President Clinto then sent the ARMY to handle the situation. They had to comeup with a plan to take out the main people leading this Civil war to set an end to theis violence. A special task force known as ARMY Rangers would be roping in on UH-60 Blackhawks to four corners of the block to set up a perimeter so no one gets in and no one gets out. Once they do that Delta Force members would arrive in MH-60 Littlebirds to secure the main bulding and take arrest the leaders. It was a job that was to take thirty minutes, but it lasted over fifteen hours. Many men would be injured and killed in those hours, including Gary Gordon and Randy Shughart. There were two Blackhawks that had been hit by RPG's, and the first crash site was avle to be protected. The second however was to far away for any ground troops to reach in time. The pilot of that blackhawk was Chief Warrant Officer Mike Durant. The Delta operators Gary Gordon and Randy Shughart were two Snipers who asked to protect Durant's crash site. The comrades of Durant that flew above him also tried to save Durant. An RPG hit Goffena's MH-60 and he made a forced landing, although he landed in safe territory. Shughart and Gordon were posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for their actions at the crash site. Gary Gordon and Rand Shughart were both killed at the crash site, but Durrant was taked as a Prisoner Of War. The soldiers were able to hold off the militia at the first crash site until dawn when a convoy consisting of the 10th Mountain Division, Pakistani and Malaysian UN troops reached them and they were able to successfully exit the hostile area of the city to a Pakistani-occupied soccer stadium.
