Mark Lanter

Professional drummist of 35 years. Studied with Steve Sample, Steve Sample Jr., Larry Mathis, Stanley Spector, and Billy Bowker. Has performed and/or recorded with the likes of: Reverend Fred Lane, Tippy Armstrong, Vova Nova, Michael Hedges, Mose Allison, Eric Essix, Tom Wolfe, James Peterson, Big Bo and Little Whit, Topper Price and the Upsetters, Boots Randolph, Chuck Redd, Victor Atkins, Mundel Lowe, Giacomo Gates, Willi King, Otiel Burbridge, Ken Watters, Bob Mintzer, Marlon Jordan, Stephanie Jordan, Rachel Jordan, Kent Jordan, LaDonna Smith, Davey Williams, Florence Melnotte, Brian Torff. and Chris Merz. Most recent recordings include Tom Wolfe, "Simple Peace", 2001 and regional independent artists Downright, "Downright", 2001, and "Hidden Agenda", 2003, and Henri’s Notions, "Trip To The Cottage", 2007. He currently resides in Birmingham, Alabama performing with Henri’s Notions, the UA Jazz Faculty, Stuart McNair, Mark Kimbrell, Carlos Pino, and his own groups Mark Lanter Review, Action Figures, and Bonus Round while teaching private lessons and Jazz Studies at the University of Alabama.
