Coax the taut Forehead to Unclutch Itself

About Me

efft is the pop spawn of the Mills College music community; the unlikely grouping of a small town songstress, a so-cal metal head, a comedian brained percussion nerd from Eugene, and a militant stoney improviser.
Sarah Palmer grew up in the beach town of Morro Bay, CA. She spent those days speaking in tongues, being home-schooled, playing sacred music on the piano, and writing poetry with the tangible constraint of a sheltered life. To celebrate her 18th year, she left the church, and went straight into the rave scene. Her continuous path in psychedelic exploration has influenced her musical tastes greatly. She considers singing to be a vital step in switching between different strands of consciousness. She currently resides in San Francisco, where she writes and performs her own songs. She is grateful to have studied with Dina Emerson, and Fred Frith.Noah Phillips makes sounds using prepared electric and acoustic guitar, analog electronics, and no-input feedback loops. Noah enjoys playing guitar in front of an audience.Jordan Glenn has played in various musical settings including orchestras, jazz big bands and combos, punk, rock and pop bands, improv groups and solo. Since moving to the Bay Area, he has worked with Fred Frith, William Winant, Zeena Parkins, Anantha Krishnan, Aram Shelton, Josh Allen, Damon Smith and Moe! Staiano. In his home town of Eugene OR he performed with the bands the Visible Men, Scrambled Ape, Mood Area 52 and Los Mex Pistols Del Norte, as well as with composer/arranger Maria Schneider and composer John Zorn. He also writes and leads his own band, Wiener Kids.Alee O. Karim is from the San Fernando Valley of California, where he grew up on Top-40 radio in the 80s and thrash in the 90s; his playing is an attempt to reconcile these two divergent streams.

Sounds Like: Really melancholy, kinda psychedelic and lush balladry that feels like lying down stoned in a tranquil garden while little miniature fairies come and attack you on little miniature unicorns. Brutal...
