I'm not as baldheaded as my picture makes me seem, and I so dig it!

About Me

Yeah, I do have the nerve to call myself filmmaker/director/writer/actor/person/woman/dramatic/crazy/ colorful/sarcastic and all that comes with it. A bit on the stoicly sensitive side, I came to writing, real young nappy headed sitting on a bed clovers with a hand-me-down Spiderman mangled by the tree I had run into, to make a world of my own (where banana seats don’t break)…the rest is somewhere between history and the southern drawl that I make stories out of….The official bio is as follows, it’s a bit dry, but you get the picture—Nzinga attained her MFA in Dramatic Writing from New York University’s Tisch School fo the Arts. Her debut short film His/Herstory featuring Jessica Care Moore has been featured in film festivals internationally including the Toronto Film Festival. Her screenplay, Epi-Phenomenon, was selected as a finalist in the 2002 Sundance Institute Screenwriting Lab, and also received Honorable Mention in the 2002 Urbanworld Screenwriting competition. A native of Talladega, Alabama and graduate of Clark-Atlanta University, Nzinga’s work has been showcased in venues throughout New York City including the Manhattan Theater Source, New York University, and New Perspectives Theater.. Her one-act play, Smoke, written and directed at the age of eighteen, was selected by the National Black Arts Festival for its young playwrights workshop. Nzinga is also the co-founder of the Harlem Screenwriting Workshop. She has also acted in various plays and films.
