BACARY SAGNA- A QUICK BIO.
Sagna was born in Sens, Bourgogne on 14 February (Valentines day!) 1983, his parents are originally from Senegal and Bacs had said many times how much he appreciates the journey that they made to France so he could have a better life. He became interested in football from a young age as both his brother and father used to play and played for his local club FC Sens where he was a promising talent, so promising in fact that they themselves alerted Auxerre about his talents and he joined them at 14. At Auxerre, he continued his tutelage at their wicked academy which has produced talents such as Cantona, Diaby…the list goes on. During his time here, he was converted from a more attacking player into a defender. So when in the 2004-5 season an opportunity in the first team became available at right back, Sagna never looked back. One of his greatest assets is in fact his consistency (even shown from a younger age in his early twenties) and effort and it is these skills which granted him to receive the honour of the best right back in both the 2005-6 and 2006-7 by his peers on the French ligue 1s team of the year. Other achievements he has achieved so far include winning the ‘Coupe de France’ with Auxerre as well as the’ Trophée des Champions’ runner up in the same year.
In what can be seen as the beginning of a new chapter for Sagna, He has also recently been called up to the senior French squad (though uncapped..come on Domenech!!) which he decided to play for instead of Senegal, saying of his decision jokingly:
‘Désormais, ils doivent être amers là -bas... Ils m'attendent sans doute à la sortie avec des couteaux..’.(rire)
Consequently, they (SENEGAL) must be bitter there... They wait for me undoubtedly at the exit with knifes...
And has also been rewarded with a great move to Arsenal FC (best club in the world we think ; ) as well as PSV Eindhoven)
