2008 BATTLE OF THE IMPORTS MARYLAND
Sport compact drag racers united near D.C.
With NOPI's last-minute cancellation of its Colorado and Utah events, a who's who of sport compact drag racing came together united at the world famous Battle of the Imports at Maryland International Raceway (MIR) on June 27th and 28th, 2008. It was an event with surprising camaraderie amongst normally opposed drag teams.

Monday Finish Line - June 30, 2008: NHRA POWERade, Redline: Time Attack! Utah, BOTI Maryland
Tyler McQuarrie and the CWest/Brian Crower Honda S2000 wowed 'em again at a Redline: Time Attack!, this time setting the pace at Round 3 Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah, and earning both Unlimited RWD and Overall champion hardware, the second time he has done so this season. Second place overall went to Unlimited AWD victor Gary Sheehan in the GST Impreza, while third was U-AWD runner-up Luke Russell in the Top Speed Impreza.

Techlab #28 Q&A-2
Q- I have a swap question for you and the gurus at urbanracer.com. I have a 1990 Honda CR-X and want to really standout by dropping a K20 into it. I would like to know if this swap has been done before and what products are out there to make it easier for me? I would also like an idea of what else is involved? Nightshift takes over the Big Apple!
As many pro's there are about Hot Import Nights taking things outdoors for Nightshift, there are just as many con's. We learned this first hand last week in Maryland where the event was blighted by rain and heat. Having a roof over your head is something that one can easily take for granted. Unfortunately, there are no retractable roofs over the parking lots that make for the Nightshift show floors. If it rains, take cover. If its hot, keep cool. You already know the drill.

Car culture Woodstock returns to Summit Point
June 21 was a hot one at West Virginia's jewel of a tri-road circuit facility, Summit Point, somewhat appropriate for the first day of summer. If you happened to be there, you probably were among the throng of enthusiasts that turned out for what has become a trippy mix of competition, camping, car destruction, and rock and roll.

Newest big-name auto lifestyle fest returns to Long Beach for second year
My chief editor over at UrbanRacer is a very down-to-earth, mellow guy. So when he asked me to cover the Pro-Motion SpoCom event in Long Beach, Calif., on June 22, I asked him if I could do a side story on the Skunk2 Time Attack EVO 9. He said, "No problem."
