My music tastes are very interesting, I know. Shoutout to the gamberos of RICO Entertainment holding it down in Barcelona and Madrid, Spain. Goodfella, Papi Rico and Brasco are my patnas for life!!!! :) Shoutout to that THIRDDD COASTTTT... holding it down for TEXAS, "THE HOME OF THE PLAYAZ AND THE PIMPS" all over the globe right cheaaa....we comin up finally! Whatchall known about that Free Pimp C? Whatchall know about drankin that Lean? hahaha....Rest in peace Big Pokey, Eazy E, all the fallen souljas....
Movies:
Again, these are in the interests.... but I like happy ending movies. I dont want the cinema for realism or for slaps in the face reality. In this category I include movies like Irreversible, a french foreign film... ohhh never again... and also Requiem for a Dream, which I couldnt even finish watching I was crying so hard. I get enough reality by everyday life, I dont need the cinema to give it to me. As a result, I prefer the flowery side of cinema... A Walk in the Clouds, the Temptations, Breakfast Club, The goonies, Remember the Titans... feel good, take me away from this sick and twisted world for a few hours type of films. However, I have also been known to enjoy an occasional horror-movie fest.... as long as you hold my hand. haha. Oh yeah, and the movie "Dancer in the Dark" ... watch it. It changed my life.
Television:
Maaaan all of this is already in the interests, so I dont know why I keep typing, but anyway... yes. I love reality TV.. haha.. which is weird since I dont like reality movies.. haha... but yeah. Reality TV is great.. haha.. jerry springer in the early days... Cheaters on the WB, anything with Steve Harvey, Martin Lawrence, Cedric... you know I like to laugh when I watch TV. Golden Girls is also a personal favorite and staple. What's life without four old ladies and the oldest one as the biggest smart-ass??? haha.
I also watch CNN, gots to keep up with my politics yanno....
Books:
I like to read for pleasure... again, feel-good books... but an occasional biography is always good. The biography of Mother Teresa was enriching, and so was the one of Whitney Houston. Their lives took some different paths, mind you, but all the same... an interesting and enriching experience to read them both. I also like reading the Bible even though I dont do it as much as I need to. Now that I am back in school, I am big on the know... 911 Commission Report, Mein Kampf, Noam Chomsky on the "US: Un Estado Ilegal" (even though its not my personal view... I gotta keep up with the EDUCATED arguments), my Emerson book of poetry, Obama's biography and Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus... great read. Oh btw, I cant wait for Colin's biography to come out.
Heroes:
My mother, hands down, is my hero. She overcame all odds to get to the point where she is now and I only hope I can live up to her expectations for my life. My friend Chris Milmoe in London, England is my hero too. He is a lovely, GREAT and very helpful person. :)
