First of all, I am not a professional musician. I have always played guitar since my teens and continue into the present with future plans to further my intrest in music as I proceed through life. I do have goals where music is concerned but I have never had the desire to try and make a living at it.
Let me give you an idea of where I have been and where I am planning on going with this little musical adventure. I began in my teens just bangin out shitty half assed attempts at what a piss load of distortion allowed to pass as metal. I have to give my cousin credit for giving me the inspiration to even pick up the ax because I have always admired the chops this guy has. But I was a teen then and I was a horrible mix of cocky know it all attitude and embarrassment out of fear of people finding out that I didn't know what the hell I was doing cast me in the roll of half assed mediocre guitar playing. As I move up into college in my early twenties I started wanting to advance my skills and I took up classical guitar to expand my horrizons. I tried and tried to force myself to work at it but I was bored with it and far from inspired to really work on it and improve. Later on I get a nice dose of the Latin community and couldn't get enough of the music of this culture that was enjoying so much. This was a hell of a change for me since I cut my teeth on metal, classic rock, blues, and country but Latin music quickly became my favorite music of all. Thanks to Los Angeles radio I got an assload of Mariachi and Ranchero which I like but it still was quite what I was looking to get into. I discover what I am looking for is something like the Gypsy Kings are playing. In walks Flamenco into my life and what drives me to play the guitar. Suprisingly I had a bit of a difficult time finding someone who actually knew true Flamenco guitar but I happened to find someone who could teach Flamenco. At the time I was living in the San Fernando Valley and I discovered a guy on the other end of the valley that studied Flamenco at a conservatory in Spain. I have been studying under this individual off and on for a good 4 or 5 years.
For the most part I am the type of person who gets into one particular thing and has a difficult time branching out to do other things. I have done it though by trying to learn a little Blues and Bluegrass technique over the years but the one thing I have the real drive to practice is Flamenco.
Outside of music I am a full-time college student studying Mechanical Engineering. I like working on shit and building whatever I can think of. I love Harleys and old muscle cars. I do the majority of my work outside of school at bars as a doorman/bouncer or whatever they will pay me to do at the bar. Anything else you want to know just hit me up and i'll try and help you out the best I can.
