Prohibition Rose

Prohibition Rose is an up and coming Los Angeles based rock band that combines soulful vocals and introspective lyrics with dynamic riffs and energetic rhythms. The story of Prohibition Rose begins with a singer named Emily Belgard. Emily is a native of Southern California and actively involved in musical theater her whole life. In college, Emily desired to explore a more personal form of artistic expression and formed the band Moorish Idol, serving as lead vocalist and bassist. Moorish Idol played numerous shows throughout Los Angeles and recorded an E.P. with Logan Mader of Machine Head.
Moorish Idol disbanded after two years and Emily concentrated on theater and school. She didn’t play in another band until she met members of Fragile Massy. Intrigued with their music, she joined the group as their bassist. She also formed an instant friendship with drummer Andy Bonura and guitarist Tanner Bean. Andy and Tanner are cousins but more like brothers. They grew up in Oklahoma City and have played music together since they were kids. In October of 2003, they moved to Los Angeles and played in the progressive hard rock band Vestige before founding Fragile Massy.
Fragile Massy performed consistently throughout Los Angeles and San Francisco during most of 2006. In November, they recorded their debut E.P. at Radiostar Studios with producer Sylvia Massy Shivy, whose credits include Tool and System of a Down. Due to a variety of circumstances, Fragile Massy parted ways a few months later.
Almost immediately Emily, Andy, and Tanner began writing music with Emily singing lead and Prohibition Rose was born. Emily decided to not play bass in the new band in order to allow her to focus on her true passion - vocals and lyrics. They invited bassist Mia Heldt to audition for the band. Tanner and Mia had met a few years ago when she contacted him about joining her band Stealing Venus. Mia proved to be the final ingredient needed for the band and the lineup was officially complete.
