Hello to all our friends! Agony Rose was started in the Summer of 2005 as a new Catholic Music trio. The three of us originally got together playing Fusion Rock with Catholic Band Oaks of Justice (OaksofJustice.com) in the Summer of 2003. After Oaks of Justice moved to Northern California, we found ourselves in need of a new identity, a new style, and a new mission. We had learned A LOT about Catholic music production and performance with "Oaks" and we felt it was time we put that knowledge to work!
We began doing solemn worship music for Eucharistic Adoration by incorporating Contemporary Christian Music through more reverential musical arrangements. We felt the most important goal in our music was to deepen the audience's attention toward their worship of God and lessen their awareness of our presence. We achieved this goal by deemphasizing the beat (if not eliminating it completely) and creating a more ethereal sound using carefully chosen instruments. We also brought to Adoration some of the Church's Sacred Music -- Gregorian Chant. We further put to work our experience as Catholic evangelists by including deep spiritual meditations between songs. Our friends and supporters have given us great feedback from the project.
We also decided it was time that a Catholic recording studio be made available to grass roots Catholic bands. Most bands were recording at local studios, forced to mix their names with "questionable" artists. On the Catholic side most established studios were not interested in supporting any music other than traditional hymns. So we started Agony Rose Records to fill that need. We are currently looking for good Catholic bands to record in the Central Texas and Southern California regions. As our group has put some distance between our members (now in Texas and California), we have begun a new project in Catholic Techno music over the internet. We are also in support of one of our members' solo Catholic Rock project, Maccabeus. We hope to share some of our music recordings with our friends and supporters through this new MySpace page.
