Over time, you can expect just about anything to evolve. Animals adapt to their surroundings when necessary, people's personalities and beliefs even evolve over the course of their lives. Now, this being said, music is a man-made variation of personal expression... and by this principle, it too must evolve over time.
Enter Darker Shade of Red. From their simplistic beginnings in 2003, they have worked tirelessly and evolved into the fresh faced, accomplished musicians of today. With their new full length album due to be released, entitled 'Dismantle & Repair', a previous full length release, countless shows and even more fans and supporters, Darker Shade of Red is making their presence known on the Toronto music scene. Their captivating stage show, spearheaded by frontman Sam Taormina, will draw you in with its combination of socially conscious lyrics, emotive delivery, and a smooth, soulful vocal presence that will shift gears to gut-wrenching and aggressive screams at the drop of a hat. These artistic elements, along with spine-melting guitar work from rhythm guitarist Steve Elias and lead guitarist Antony Meta, work together to add a melodic, hard edged flavour into the mix. Effectively bringing everything full circle is the rhythm section, consisting of Anthony Lombardi on bass/backup vocals and David Parker on drums and percussion. Anthony's intoxicating groove and excellent technique blends effortlessly with David's technically complex yet simple percussive flows behind the kit. All in all, the musical experience is one meant to satisfy those who crave something more, something different and something new.
Darker Shade of Red is back... welcome home.
In ya face, kid.
