Alita (...writing & recording...)

Formed in the summer of 2004, ALITA is comprised of Alex (guitars), Bernie (guitars), Bryan (vocals), Mike (bass), and Wes (drums). Based in Kitchener, Ontario (CAN), this band seeks to develop their unique sound, bringing it to the ever-expanding indie rock/metal/hardcore scene.
ALITA's influences are as sporadic and diverse as the music they've set out to create. For example, some of the bands they list as having a major influence on their individual music style range from: Coldplay to As I Lay Dying; Eric Clapton to Tool; Pearl Jam to Isis; The Police to Protest The Hero; Thrice to Depeche Mode; David Bowie to The Dillinger Escape Plan (and so on...). With this assortment of personal creative influence, all five members of ALITA strive to have their sound somehow present in the music they create. Each song is an ecclectic mish mash of musical styles with punchy rhythms, melodic effects, aggressive yet smooth singing, thought provoking lyrics, sporadic drumming, catchy choruses, grooving basslines, coupled with harmonic clean sounds and raunchy "in-your-face" guitar riffs.
ALITA's live shows are loud and entertaining and typically include antics (costumes, dance moves, and really tight-ass shorts) courtesy of drummer Wes. They offer the spectators "more rock than talk," squeezing as much music into a set as possible. Playing music live after all, is what they believe making music is all about. Furthermore, ALITA is constantly re-inventing their music on-stage, which keep performances interesting for both their supporters and of course for themselves.
With their eyes now set to the future and a brand new year upon us, ALITA plans to record their first full-length 12-song disc during the spring & summer of 2008. ALITA's self-produced (self-titled) 5-song EP is still available in CD form at their shows and online at both their myspace & purevolume accounts.
