The In School Suspension project features a number of well-known artists and groups from the Bay Area, several having achieved regional popularity due to their frequent High School performances and airplay on local radio stations such as 106 KMEL.
Adding further to the distinctive nature of this project is the fact that the creators and contributors have exhibited a socially responsible streak as well, as a portion of all proceeds from album sales will be donated to the non-profit organization Youth Radio (www.youthradio.org).
Based in Oakland, CA, Youth Radio aims to “promote young people's intellectual, creative and professional growth through training and access to media.†The center offers classes in radio broadcasting skills, journalism, DJing, web production, as well as many additional subjects, to Bay Area youth.
