About Me

I edited my profile with Thomas’ Myspace Editor V3.6 !
PERSONAL: i have a 'personal' page as opposed to a 'music' page because i think my life tells a better story than my music. we'll get to the music, but first: to me, life is about passion. therefore, i treat my life as an adventure to discover the things that can provide me with the greatest joy and inspiration. most importantly my family (my friends are my family, otherwise people are just acquaintances or business relationships-and they are appreciated, as well!); my red doberman Vladimir (and his entire bloodline--Red, Babe, Lea, Gus, Dr. Sam & Dr. Shane, et al), my house (although it's a pain in the ass, it is my place of peace and reflection). aside from family, i surround myself with creative & exciting people and events in the realms of music, art, experience, business opportunities, IU hoops, travelling, learning, philosophy, and/or anything that raises a brow. New Orleans. NYC. Chicago. San Diego. The West (Hellow!). Delft. Amsterdam. Den Haag. Kildare. Sevilla. Venezia. these are all places that have helped shaped part of my development that i will never forget, and i hope i get to visit them again before i die.MY BUSINESS: i have a multiple-personality when it comes to the grind. i'm part business, part entertainer, and sometimes both in the same day/night. part 1 is my day job, and currently, i seek new opportunities there. part 2 is the entertainment game, and entails several facets. i co-founded and co-produce ORANJE, possibly the wildest contemporary art and music experience anywhere, taking place every september in indy. there is nothing like it. come check us out sometime. well worth the cost of admission. learn about our story and the ORANJE exerience at www.oranjeindy.com. we're also on myspace, of course, at www.myspace.com/oranjeindyas well, i am a turntable DJ, spinning hip hop, funk, pop, breaks and dance music and whatever else into one huge ball of sound. I play in clubs around indy, such as Spin, Usual Suspects and Subterra, and other spots around the u.s., and depending on the week you may find me just about anywhere (Savvy Salon, Indianapolis Museum of Art, private events, etc). I am the show/tour DJ for Mudkids, Indy's most successful and well-known hip hop act. much respect to DJ Elp-Mass who passed the performance torch to me and chose to stay focused on beat production, with which he is a genius and continues to inspire our group. i'm definitely grateful to be an official part of the Mudkids team, and love these guys like brothers. don't forget to check out my site, designed by OMEN ECKS, www.djhelicon.com. much love to the fans and friends who've supported me and the Mudkids over the years, y'all know who you are. email me for booking, custom mix CD or full-on event consultation.

My Interests

born in indy. grew up in lansing. my heart is all over the world, including new orleans...

I'd like to meet:

interesting people. anyone who has something to say other than recapping reality tv shows they watch. anyone who can share a unique thought and contribute something valuable to this world. i love adventurous conversation. and converse adventures.other artists and musicians. send us your submissions for ORANJE!!maynard james keenan. john medeski. anyone who reads my profile and thinks it's interesting. the old man in arrested development. roger waters. bob knight (actually i did meet him but i was too young to drink scotch at the time). trey anastasio. probably a lot of other people too.

Music:

Phish, Tool, Frank Zappa, Medeski Martin & Wood, Ween, Yo la Tengo, Mogwai, C Rayz Walz, Mudkids, My Bloody Valentine, Common, Talib Kweli, NWA, Faith No More, soul music, funk music (the dirty kind), 'Naptown Sound' (a la Ebony Rhythm Band), Pink Floyd, Midnight Oil, Digable Planets, The Doors, John Coltrane, Bob Marley, Sonic Youth, John Scofield, Nirvana, Beck, Prince, J Live, Steel Pulse, Michael Jackson, Talking Heads, Soulive, Pavement, The Buzzcocks, Black Heat, DJ Indiana Jones, DJ Topspeed, DJ Rusty, Curtis Mayfield, Hieroglyphics, Lee Morgan, Metallica, Kid Creole & The Coconuts, Art Blakey, Guns 'n Roses, Mozart, Grant Green, A Tribe Called Quest, Living Colour, Loretta, Cynthia Layne, Infinite Number of Sounds, en2, Jazzanova, Mission, Jimmy Smith, Mantis, Lyrics Born, Little Brother, etc, etc. I like almost all music, in some way, just because of how I feel about music in general. If I don't like it, I don't like, but it don't mean that I'm hatin.' Music is my lifeblood, my passion. I need it to survive in this fucked up world. These days, I try to see as much local music as possible.

Movies:

there's some good ones. i prefer either obscure (but well done) films, or brilliant comedy, such as christopher guest and wes anderson films. i also like some pretty stupid hollywood movies, too. it's fun to be entertained. Fletch is possibly the best movie ever made.

Books:

"print is dead."

Heroes:

no heroes, per se, but i admire anyone who follows their heart, their dreams and/or anyone who attempts to make the world a better place by not being a complete jackass all the time. those who exert effort into their work. people who are motivated by passion, not just money.people who can drive decently while talking on their cell phones.your mom.arsenio hall interviewing vanilla ice.
