WHO THE FUNK IS E.LADDER???
With over 20 years of experience with International music including hip-hop, CEO of one of the most connected independent labels in Houston E. Ladder Ent. could be making six figures easily as an A&R for a major label. Entrepreneurship is what Eladder (Eskor Ladder) knows since the age of six. Before middle school, Eladder had already traveled the world. Being raised in France relaxing every summer on the beach in the south of France was a tradition. Attending the British School of Paris and the International School of Paris, he was exposed to many types of cultural music such as European, Asian and American. Living in Dakar, Senegal exposed him to the traditional authentic African music. From birth, his family members attended a big yearly ceremony where music and sounds were made using turtle shells, metals, drums, string, cans and wood. Anyway, it's not surprising that with such exposure and experience that he decided to launch his own company E. Ladder Ent. We caught up with him in his get-a-way home in College Park, Georgia. He sits confidently in his colorful dining room wearing a fresh pair of Artful Dodger jeans, a clean untouched white tee, and a fresh pair of white Nike airforce ones. He's wearing one of the finest necklaces hip-hop has ever seen with the Eladder symbol. Around the Eladder are clean colorful yellow, white and blue diamonds imported from Africa (not blood diamonds) and finished in rose gold. He sits humble, calm, and ready. Only if one could see what his eyes have seen.
PA'PIS
Some talents are discovered at an early age some later as a person grows up in life. Pa’pis knew his talent when he was a toddler. Pa’pis would lock himself up in his room and sing all day. Singing, growing up in Senegal, West Africa, was a way of escaping tears and was his relief from stress after losing his mother at the age of three. Singing was his strength which made him a strong, calm youth. As a young man music grew in him but he didn’t know what direction to go until he traveled to Thailand where he led an American band in local clubs and bars. After spending two years there, he learned Thai and his voice was the only way he could eat and send money to his brothers and sisters in Senegal. He then relocated to Europe and found himself going back and forth to Italy and Switzerland for small gigs. “I was advised to stay in Italy because of the kind of music I was making,†said Pa’pis. He visited Paris and just like some foreigners, his immigrant status did not permit him to stay in Europe. He discovered reggae when he moved to Ivory Coast and there he began to deal more with instruments, producing his own tracks and writing songs. With all the traveling to Asia, Europe and some African countries, Pa’pis created his own sound he calls “reggae popâ€, a sound that puts him in his own category. A sound that always keeps ones head nodding and the club dancing. Pa’pis is inspired by the calm, soothing feeling music brings him. Coming from an inspiring and uplifting force to the music world songs like, “Long Voyage†(Dahoo), “Ghetto Lifeâ€, “Dance with Meâ€, and “Someone to Love†represent life, love, happiness and struggle which helps to define his unique soulful genre. His songs help to bring out the uniqueness and beauty of other world music blended with African flavor. Among the many melodious tracks laid by him “Bang Bang†is one of the quintessential hip-hop hits. Now residing in Atlanta, Georgia, Pa’pis linked up with one of the most known promoter in Houston and Atlanta, fashion icon/trendsetter, producer, superstar creator, and CEO of E. Ladder Ent., Eskor ‘Eladder’ Ladder, to knock on the doors for the North American exposure. “We have so much in common. We both lived in Senegal and France so we speak Wolof and French of course English too. We’ve traveled the world, maybe not in the same boat but same sea and some journey. We love good music and I like the fact that he is diverse and global. Pa’pis is a star that shines every time and everywhere. When his time comes, he will change world music.†said Eladder. With years of performing and dancing on different stages around the world, including opening for international star GTO and Sing a Tech, he is ready to take the music world storm.
